I voted for allowing local alcohol sales and against a local tax increase |
|
Does that make me a flaming moderate? Quite a big turnout for a small rural voting precinct. No local elections with any great fire except the alcohol vote. All the citizens who are much more American then me who go to church on Sunday apparently are turning out in droves to ensure restaturants can't serve alcohol. They obviously want us to drive a long way to get drunk (then drive a long way to get home) and leave our tax dollars elsewhere.

1. I don't know BOSSHOG... |

In my county, we had 7 propositions on which to vote.
I voted for everyone of them. I think they were all worthwhile, but normally I would have "conservatively" taken a closer look at them and the effect on taxes. However, I am so tired of hearing "I don't want to pay more taxes" that I voted for a statement of "I want to pay my share" and the probably erroneous thought that I would rather break the system with these propositions and others countrywide and not have the money to go to war. Not even the total of costs for the seven would make a dent in the cost of war. Of course, I know that we didn't have the money for this last war and we did it anyway.
You had your reasons and it was your vote - and I don't think anyone on DU could or would call you a flaming moderate.

2. I mulled the proposal over |
|
It would allow the mechanism for one percent county tax increase for road and school maintenance. But after Katrina our county sales tax revenues skyrocketed because of the increase in population (people heading north). And property taxes will be going up the first of the year, so I said no to the latest proposal. I'll sleep well tonight.
