I'm confused - I thought I did not have to have a photo ID (GA) Is this still being fought in the
courts and what states are requiring this? Also, the paper you had to fill out to get your card was very tricky and seems like it would be very easy for them to decide to throw out your ballot. You had to print your name exactly as it appears on your voter registration card. I was not sure how my name is listed since sometimes I use a middle initial and sometimes I print the whole name.

2. You've been repressed! Maybe you should call one of those
voter assistance hotlines listed on the front page of DU!

3. I didn't need an ID when I voted early...
I also knew the poll worker, but as far as I know that law has been struck down.

4. That law has been struck down.
But you still have to show some kind of I.D. You have a choice of fourteen kinds. The law that was struck down would have limited you to two kinds (State Driver's License or State-Issued Photo I.D.) I have the same problem with the "type your name exactly as it appears" line. I still got issued a voting card. The cards are anonymous, as far as I know, so that card can't get thrown out due to the way I filled out the "type your name" line.

Of course, my vote can get thrown out by the tabulators for daring to vote democratic, but that's another issue. No paper trail. At least I put forth the effort to make them steal my vote.

5. Ditto that.
I used my driver's license.

The new law would have made it difficult for elderly people who don't drive to get the required ID...and since they don't drive...no driver's license.

Pretty clever, huh?

6. Thanks. When they asked for ID I may have just assumed photo ID. Someone in line behind me also
thought they were asking for photo ID. I'm not sure if the poll workers know you just have to present an ID or if they request a photo ID. However the paperwork is definitely new, whereas before you just verified they had the correct information on their lists, now you have to complete the date (which I still have to look at my watch to remember) and correct name as it appears on your registration card.
