What on earth is he talking about? That doesn't even make sense.

What a stupid thing to say!

4. I don't think he meant it that way. But that is what he said.
Afghanistan is almost as big a mess as Iraq. Not so many people killed. But certainly is no success - it's sliding right back into the hole it was in before.

10. It doesn't matter what he meant to say, it is what he did say
Two can play the game with these Freudian slips.

3. WTF?
All I can figure is, in a badly-thought-out, convoluted way, he's saying that a Democratic victory will lead to a pull-out in Iraq, which would lead to a Taliban-type government.

I guess.

6. How about the British in the 1920's? They got thrown out of Iraq. Or our
army is being equated to the Red Army, that got thrown out of Afghanistan with the Taliban coming to power?

5. He's talking of Afghanistan circa 2001
Saying that Al Qaeda will have free reign to cause havoc in Iraq if we pull out. He's ignoring that Iraq is in a civil war.

8. Uh, WTF?
Sometimes the Freudian slips tell you all you need to know about someone.

I guess he might mean that when the Soviets left Afghanistan, there was a power vaccuum that was filled by those who hosted terrorists, and if the US leaves Iraq, it too may become a haven for terrorists, who might attack us.

Weird point to make today. Our Iraq policies have undoubtedly made Iraq more hospitable to terrorists, not less. Saddam was a power hungry secularist, and hated Al Qaeda.

9. I saw Mehlman say that this morning. How stupid.
For one, Iraq is already worse than Afghanistan. And it's all the GOP's doing. They are the ones who stuck their big fat fingers in where they didn't belong. And now, we have a civil war and thousands of innocent people DEAD. There is no coming back from DEAD.

And the blood of those innocent people is on the Republican Party's hands. All of them.

11. hmm. 2837 vs. 349
I WISH Iraq was another Afghanistan. I'm betting that there's about 2,488 families out there that agree with me.

12. repugs are trying to smear the demmies with repug faults!
They are trying to pretend to be the good guys, like George Allen, the "Saviour" of women.

Hey at least the drugs are flowing again out of Afghanistan. That out to make the holy rollers proud.
