CO-05 Jay Fawcett's campaign HQ vandalized...
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/11/7/122015/906

"The headquarters for Jay Fawcett's campaign for Colorado's 5th Congressional District was vandalized overnight and a death threat - the third such threat - was also emailed to Fawcett. Both incidents have been reported to the police. As voters headed to the polls, Fawcett campaign volunteers arriving at campaign offices were greeted with a vile "Skunk" aroma, making it virtually impossible to conduct work there. The campaign is expecting more than 200 people to come through the offices today to help with Get Out The Vote and Poll Watching efforts.

"Don't let these hooligans deter you from exercising your Constitutional right to vote," said Fawcett. "It's time to take a stand against these attacks."

This is the second time the Fawcett Campaign has been vandalized. Last Tuesday the Campaign Finance Director's car was covered in the skunk smell, while parked out front of the El Paso County Republican Office.

"I find it disgusting that, as we are fighting for Democracy in Iraq, people are besmirching Democracy here in Colorado Springs," said Fawcett Campaign Manager Wanda James. "Death threats and childish illegal activities will not deter us from getting out the vote to victory today."

4. As someone from that district
I can't believe they didn't anticipate this and have multiple people standing watch at the office overnight. Not to excuse the thugs who did this, but this should have been guarded against.

COLORADO SPRINGS — The headquarters of Democrat Jay Fawcett was vandalized last night with an unfavorable aroma, according to police.

The office, located in the 700 block of South Tejon Street, was sprayed with chemicals that emitted a smell similar to a skunk, said Lt. Rafael Cintron, Colorado Springs police spokesman.

Fawcett is running for the 5th Congressional District against Republican Doug Lamborn.

"It makes it very difficult to work with gas masks on," Wanda James, campaign manager for Fawcett, said in a written statement. She expects about 200 people to come to the office today and help with the campaign. "However, we are Democrats and we are working through it and getting the office cleaned up."

James said this is the second time Fawcett’s campaign has been under a "skunk" attack. She said the finance director’s car smelled like skunk last Tuesday. The vehicle was parked in front of the El Paso County Republican Office.

Cintron said it is not strange for something like this to happen during heated elections. Police are still investigating.

8. Odd thing to say.
That is a very odd thing to say.

"Cintron said it is not strange for something like this to happen during heated elections. Police are still investigating."

Sad it has become so expected that the police spokesperson is not even alarmed.
