I keep seeing this phone number referenced in various messages, listed as the number that Howard Dean wants us to call if there are voting problems.
Folks -- there is no such number!!! Remember what we all learned in kindergarten, there are three digits in the area code and seven digits in the phone number.
According to my note from the good Doctor, we have been asked to call 1-888-DEM-VOTE (1-888-336-8683).
Stop referencing the bogus phone number.
Call 1-888-DEM-VOTE (1-888-336-8683)

8. HOWARD DEAN was just on Thom Hartmann a few minutes ago |
|
and Dean said to call 1-888-DEMVOTE if you have problems.
As for this other # - 1-866-OURVOTE I have not a clue as to the validity of this phone # to and whether or not it is appropriate to call it if you have a problem voting.
Good luck! I'm thinking we'll be needing it! :(

That's the # that DEAN gave out on KO last evening. Take it up with Skinner. He has it on his post, as well. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x2600685BTW- I don't appreciate you implying that I'm spreading around bogus #'s. I've got the "good doctor" on TIVO.

I don't mean to imply that you or anyone is spreading bogus phone numbers. I mean to emphasize that the number that so many are including in their posts is not a real, usable phone number.
My suspicion is that our common way of using shortcuts in writing on line (like "R U OK?") has been the cause -- 866-OUR-VOTE became 866-RVOTE became an unusable phone number.
So chill. We're all the good guys, excluding the occasional troll.
