Voting In Utah Went Fine for Me, Except For One Thing |
|
Apparently, I'm registered to vote as a Republican. I'll wait a week and change that. Good thing it's not a primary election. Still, let them chew on a the fact that a registered Republican voted the straight Dem ticket (not that anyone is keeping track...ahem).
As per Michael Moore, Mrs. Demwing and I brought our brooms to the polling place. We made some cranky old Utahan sigh loudly and mutter to his wife, and she giggled loudly. Wonder if they knew why we had the brooms?
Otherwise, the Diebold machine worked great. Paper trail worked fine. I made the volunteers a little when I started taking pictures of the process, but so what? It was an opening to talk about the security of the vote, and the 2000/2004 messes. I'm sure we didn't convince anyone to vote Dem (this IS Utah county gang), but we made a few unused synapses fire.
All in all, it was a good day. Here's to a good night. :toast: :toast:

After you make your choices, the machines prints out a paper copy which you can view, but not keep. The paper roll is collected, locked, and stored, to be retrieved only if needed. And yes, the machines are most definitely Diebold
