*SIX YEARS* they've had to FIX the voting systems! *SIX YEARS*!! |
|
Are we a freakin' Banana Republic or the damned United States of America?!?!?!
I could have written the most elaborate and kick-ass e-voting system in the last 6 years and put it on rock-solid hardware, all with open-source. I've been programming for 20 years now. An e-voting system is just not that difficult.
BUT, we all know that getting a program to work properly isn't really what the One-Party Rulers of this nation want to have happen, is it?
NO!
They much more prefer the chaos that has occurred in various parts of the country that have had the effect of suppressing tens of thousands of votes (such as the system problems in heavily Democratic Cuyahoga county).
We NEED a Federal Election Holiday Weekend and we NEED completely OPEN-SOURCE software developed BY the gov't, not outside vendors and we NEED Federal/State/Local legislation requiring accessible paper ballots in EACH precinct for ANY voter that doesn't want to use an electronic voting system!
And we need this when??
RIGHT FUCKING NOW!!!

13. They fixed it exactly to their liking - chaos distracts. |
|
And that is ALL they need.

therein lies the problem. They wanted to make sure that they would never lose again, I hope this turnout proves them wrong.

4. Let 'em scream EVM fraud -- then they'll know how it feels. |
|
And then finally something will be done to move toward clean elections.

5. All these years now, we have known about the voting machines. |
|
Why wasn't this problem seriously addressed by those who have some clout? It's a mystery.

7. Because "Fixing" doesn't mean ensuring people can vote |
|
"fixing" means ensuring that certain people can't.

9. Five years to improve port security and coordinate emergency response efforts.... |
|
More than three years to build infrastructure and keep the electricity working for more than a few hours in Iraq..... More than a year to at least begin rebuilding the lower 9th ward in New Orleans....
This administration has been a complete fucking disaster.

12. How come Chilis's restaurants |
|
can depend on their touch screen computer system to keep track of reservations and patron orders and check information and Diebold can't produce the same kind of dependable touch screen system for recording votes?! I bet the voting program is less complicated than the restaurant program.
Something is definitely wrong with a democracy that can't insure the integrity of the vote after 200 plus years of practice... oh did I say democracy??

15. Because Diebold doesn't WANT to |
|
produce a reliable electronic vote counting system. Their goal is a voting system that can be manipulated in many different ways. They are capable of making a reliable system. But that's not what the repuglicans are paying them for.

and they ran like champs on standard Dell desktops (non-industrial PCs) in a dusty, hot, humid environment.

11. The voting system is fixed alright! Fixed for the Repugs to win forever! |
|
Since early this am it has been wall to wall Repugs interviewed and saying they are coming up in the polls. They have been laying the ground work for a "surprise" victory coming at the end of the day. If Repugs win the fix was in.

16. Yeah, but then they couldn't have given their buds our money to |
|
buy the machines.
Let me add to your wish list: a national voting standard, at least for Congressional and presidential elections. Everyone voting in the same (reliable) manner, with votes counted accurately, uniformly, and in a non-partisan fashion.

I want a printed receipt with my vote tally, a serial number and a web site address.
So after the election, I can go the the web site, type in the serial number and verify that the tally on my receipt WAS COUNTED CORRECTLY.
How hard can that be?
