Why do I have the sneaky feeling that...

... they will "let" us have this one because they need someone to blame for the past six years...?

I can hear it now, "Oh, the Dems had a chance to change things and they did nothing. They are just as much to blame for this mess" And then Rove will have everyone believing this and 08 has never looked better for them... Just a fearful thought...

1. IMO, there is NOTHING they can do to deflect the past 6 years.
They own it. Lock, stock and barrel.

3. They need us to get them out of Iraq. I don't mind being their exit
strategy. They for damn sure don't have any strategy whatsoever.

5. Well, their mistake
If that is their plan, we turn the tables on them. Make the 110th Congress one that enacts decent legislation quickly, and voters will want to keep the Democrats :)

7. I share your sentiments since we are dealing with criminals, however
elected democrats in the Senate and the House have had enough of republican chicanery. karl rove is neutered after tonight. His carte blanche dirty trick days are over. He is hours away from being bush's eunuch.

10. I have a sneaky feeling you're wrong
As much as anything, what is freaking out the repubs is that the Democrats are going to make significant inroads in statehouses -- governorships. Holding governorships is viewed as important leading into 2008. If the repubs had the ability to "let us" have the election at the national level, they'd still want to keep the statehouses. The fact that they can't basically blows your conspiracy theory out of the water.

Also, if that was the case, and the repubs were certain that they'd recapture the House in two years, Denny Hastert wouldn't resign from Congress. But everything I'm hearing indicates that he will indeed resign after the elections.

11. Agree...it may be a selling point in the future if the Dems do doing but I don't think
they are voluntarily giving this one away.

And on another note: Good to see you onenote. I'm going to be in contact with someone who worked with the International Criminal Court and is a specialist in habeas corpus matters.

I'm going to get him to look at our old conversations re: the MCA and ask him to write an "expert" opinion.

but really, they aren't God or anything. I think you're just feeling a bit of paranoia after the last two.

14. That's the "october surprise"...
All the downfalls, knowing about Foley for over a year, et al...

I don't expect offshoring to stop.

Bush has veto power.

I'm going to go out and vote FWIW, but in all realism, what will truly change?
