First House majority without a Southern majority since 1952 |
|
I read in the paper today, that when we Democrats take over the House tonight, we will gain the first majority since 1952, without also carrying a majority of the seats in the south. Our gains are expected to come from the northeast, midwest, and west.

1. Amen to that. First ever liberal/moderate majority (except 1964-66) |

without the conservative, racist Southern "Dems" that gave us a phony "majority" from 1954-1994 but voted against progressive issues at every turn. This is a big deal, folks. The last time we had this type of majority was 1964-1966 when the Civil Rights Act and many Great Society measures passed. We've gotta keep this trend going in 2008 with a DEM President. THEN we'll finally have our country back after many years in the Wilderness.
