According to Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International. Looking good for Davis at this point!

By ADRIAN SAINZ
Associated Press Writer

MIAMI (AP) -- Republican Charlie Crist appeared to carry more of the white and Christian vote in the heated race for governor against Democrat Jim Davis, who was ahead among liberals and blacks and moderate voters in Tuesday's election, exit polls found.

But the governor's race was about even among all voter age groups and educational backgrounds.

Many voters disapproved of the war in Iraq, and Nelson and Davis were faring better than Republicans among those who opposed the war.

Davis, a Tampa congressman, appeared to be carrying his Democratic base but was also leading Crist in the moderate vote and among independents.

The polls of Florida voters was conducted for the The Associated Press and television networks by Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International. It was conducted at a randomly selected probability sample of 40 precincts around Florida. Results for the full sample in both polls were subject to sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, higher for subgroups.

And geographically, Davis appeared to be leading among voters in South Florida while those in the northern part of the state were favoring Crist.

Let me rephrase that - when Davis wins . . .

He has run a great positive campaign. Empty suit Charlie was the pure flip-flopper

3. Davis is getting trounced and Miami numbers are just coming in
Ft Lauderdale WPB should help, though, and they haven't even started reporting.
Fingers crossed.

14. It will come down to South Florida turnout. Am hearing 60% in some areas.
Turnout projected at 50% in Palm Beach Co. by Supervisor of Elections Art Anderson at mid afternoon... haven't heard the update, if it has changed, but certainly a great trend.

16. FL Hispanics breaking for Davis 49.3 to 39.4!!!!! READ THIS!!!
Hispanics voting more Democratic

posted by John A. Cutter on Nov 7, 2006 8:24:04 PM

Reporter Victor Manuel Ramo filed this report: Adding to their reputation as a political wildcard, Florida Hispanics seemed to be joining a national trend and voting Democratic in the mid-term and gubernatorial elections, according to early exit polls released Tuesday by a Texas research group.

The same Florida Hispanics who in last election cycles had supported Republicans such as Sen. Mel Martinez, Gov. Jeb Bush and President Bush seemed to be crossing party lines in afternoon exit polls, according to the William C. Velásquez Institute, a research group in San Antonio, Texas.

The institute’s exit polls came close to predicting Hispanic voter preferences in the last presidential election. As of 4 p.m., the institute said that Florida Hispanics were weighing in favor of Democrats nationally as well as in Florida, siding with Bill Nelson in the Senate race and Jim Davis in the race for governor.

Davis had 49.3 percent of the Hispanic vote as compared to Charlie Crist’s 39.4 percent in the 35 precincts surveyed throughout Florida. Nelson had 44.7 percent to Katherine Harris’ 42.1 percent. It was the first time since Bill Clinton won the Florida Hispanic vote in 1996 that Democrats were leading in exit polls among the state’s Hispanics.

“This is interesting. I am surprised,” said Antonio González, the institute’s president. “It should have been more heavily Republican at this point, but it’s not the way it’s breaking… If the trend continues, it would be a first time in a while that Latino voters supported the Democrats at the top of the ticket in Florida.” In a broader sample --which also included the states of Arizona, California, Illinois, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York and Texas-- 72.8 percent of Latinos polled said they were voting Democratic.

23. my puerto rican american friend said
vote would be against a closeted gay candidate from non-PR voters in majority, which is a flip from the Bush/Kerry vote. A lot of non-PR are Catholic and Cuban American... I think the word started to get out on Crist's fake life.
