6. No tears for Chafee. Should have switched parties and he could have saved his ass
No reason for even caucusing with rethugs if he rarely agreed with them. Whitehoue will be a nice addition.
Lieberman I can live with as long as he caucuses with us and switches parties back.

9. No offense, but it is important that a DEMOCRAT WINS AS MANY RACES
If we have the majority WE SET THE AGENDA

Not happy about Lieberman either, but he has promised he would caucus with the Democrats

with an idiot. Rightly on wrongly.

Alas, he's true to his principles and lost and Traitor Joe wins with republicans. :(

16. To hell with Chafee.
Whitehouse won't put the leadership in the hands of Frist or Trent Lott or any of the other nuts that have run the GOP Senate over the years. Chafee could have teamed up with Jeffords and Snowe years ago and helped check the Republican party's excesses, but the failed to do so. Chafee and Snowe both deserve to be swept out of office.

We needed his seat and we kicked his republican ass to the curb. The only good republican is one that has been defeated.

He was a fool that deserved to lose. Why didn't he switch 4 years ago?

Lieberman is a turncoat bastard, but it was an uphill fight all along.

20. I agree
If we don't need that seat to take control of the Senate, it's a shame that he lost. We need more sane Republicans in both houses.

21. Chafee Had To Go, Sir
If he wanted to stay in the Senate, he should have changed parties. The northeastern 'moderate' Republican must be driven to extinction.

28. Bill Maher had him on recently
and he was saying that he didn't want to give up being a Republican-- that he saw himself as a true repub, unlike the ones who have taken over the party.

He stood by that principle. But the people of Rhode Island, much as they like him, hate his party, and the war, more.

29. It's hard to punish
I have to admit I didn't vote straight Dem today...I voted for 2 repubs in local races...one for county circuit court judge and the other for county sheriff. I've worked with both, and they "get it". I didn't want to punish 2 good people just because they had an "R" beside their name (and I have to add that their opposition was untried or questionable).

From what I've heard about Chaffee, he seemed like a good guy, too bad he played with the bullies on the playground.
