Just back from the Denver Convention Center, went there to help.

When I got there, the line was almost 400 people long, an over 2 hour wait at 5 PM.

People were looking worn out and some were leaving. There were volunteers from American Votes there, with some food and water.

I grabbed water and food and began working the line. What a great group of people in downtown Denver! When some more food and water arrived, and we needed help bringing it in, I asked for volunteers and had six people helping out instantly.

As people exited after voting, they were applauded by those waiting in line. :-)

The most gratifying part...three people who left earlier in the evening actually came back to vote shortly before the polls closed.

I left at around 7 PM, there were maybe 150 people still in line, every single one planning to stay for the duration.

So many people were determined to make their vote count, in spite of a two plus hour wait in the uncirculating air of the basement of the Convention Center.

It was inspirational! MKJ

2. remember--just before election Denver went from ca 800 polls to 50
voting centers. The DU discussion claimed this was another way to depress the vote.

I think the decision was made without citizen input and with no time to challenge and change back to polling places.

3. Thank you very much for helping those voters.
Maybe someone who was going to vote Repub could tell by your smiling face that you're a Dem, and they changed their vote. Wouldn't that be great?
