Santorum's Crying Children: REAL Parents Would've Left the Kiddies Home
I grew up in a family with parents who were never divorced, and who were devoted to each other for the whole 39 years they were married (till one of them died.)

My parents were (cringe!) conservative. But they were honest, and they knew how a family should act. I was lucky enough that I had a rock-solid family to fall back on.

"Daddy's job" was something that we children were not primarily concerned with. Yes, obviously we knew what dad did, but the parents DID NOT CONCERN THEIR CHILDREN WITH DAD'S JOB BECAUSE IT IS NOT CHILDREN'S PLACE TO HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ADULT MATTERS.

Whatever setbacks he may have had, they were never discussed in detail with us kiddies. My parents would've considered it unseemly and also--bad for their kids.

My numerous aunts and uncles--also successful families, although more politically liberal than my parents--would act the very same way. "Daddy's job" was NOT a subject matter in which the kids should be heavily involved. It is better for kids to simply be told to do the best they could in school, and to worry primarily about... being a decent kid.

I can only conclude that Santorum and his wife are a pretty sleazy example of a family which does not do a good job raising their children. And the kids will suffer for this. This is the opposite of "Family Values".

So it appears that Santorum is not only a failure as a senator, but also a failure as a father. JMO.

But then, we knew that already...

3. Right--no Democrat has ever brought their kids up on stage for a concession speech.
:sarcasm:

I've been voting for damn near 30 years and been at many ED parties.

They ALL do it, and it's unbecoming of all of them.

4. BULLSHIT.
My father ran for office 3x when I was a child - I worked my ass off for him and I believed in him. He lost all 3 elections. I stayed up all night each election night eagerly watching the results on tv. I would have been happy no where ELSE!

I didn't SUFFER as a result of being involved in my father's campaigns - I was better educated as a child than most adults are regarding current events and who was running our country. I became a civic minded person interested in our government and it's process.

My father was not a failure, nor was he sleazy - and anyone here that thinks otherwise can go fuck... well... Rick Santorum!

10. No politician (repug or dem) is a real parent.
We all use any advantage we can, and family is one. There is lots to kick that ass about, but not this.

14. Same here
My dad is a republican and conservative and my mother is now with nobody (thanks George!) and whenever they worked (my dad still does) they never talked about their jobs like that but than again my mother only worked when I was older in high school. But my dad has never talked about his job with us either except when I asked my question's and he answered.
