If we don't get the senate...(party switch)
After the 1994 election Ben Nighthorse Campbell and Richard Shelby switched from Democrat to Republican.

What are the chances of people like Susan Collins (Maine), Gordon Smith (Oregon), and Olympia Snow (Maine) switching and even Richard Shelby swiching back?

1. Ummm....
No, Doubtful, no, and are you shitting me?

Shelby won't come back. Alabama will never send another Democrat to the Senate. Doubt Smith would jump, and the Maine Ladies will never switch.

2. I think it's pretty unlikely
Snowe is a no -- she just won re-election, so she has no good reason to switch.
Gordon Smith is too conservative. So is Shelby.

I suppose it might be possible with Collins, since she's up in 2008. But she can take comfort from Snowe's win, so I don't think she'll switch either.

5. " ..... she can take comfort from Snowe's win ....... "
And she can take a warning from the Lincoln Chaffee parable. :)

6. No way will Collins switch!
She's a true Maine business republic (or so she thinks).
Plus district 2 is not terribly blue.

4. no chance on Smith
Pragmatic, but conservative Mormon from eastern Oregon. Better chance with Collins or Snowe I would think.
