3. Party Up! - Prince
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 01:37 AM by greyl
lyric excerpt:
(Party) Uh, uh, got to party down, babe
Ooh, it's all about what's in your mind
Goin' Uptown, baby,
I don't wanna die I just wanna have a bloody good time
Party up
Got to party up
Party up
Got to party up
Because of their half-baked mistakes
We get ice cream
No cake
All lies
No truth
Is it fair to kill the youth?
Party up
Party up
Got to party up yeah
....
you're gonna have to fight your own damn war
Cuz we don't wanna fight no more
I said we don't wanna fight no more (gonna have to fight your own damn war)
Cuz we don't wanna FIGHT NO MORE!

20. Or another Prince song, "Billy Jack Bitch"
What if I told U that U're worth
Only half of what U be?
Would U come forth and tell no lies?
Would U come forth and talk 2 me?

Billy Jack Bitch - Do U ever really cry? (Billy Jack Bitch)
Billy Jack Bitch - Do U ever really try? (Billy Jack Bitch)
Billy Jack Bitch - Do U ever wonder why? (Billy Jack Bitch)
Billy Jack Bitch (Billy Jack Bitch)

(Billy Jack Bitch)

What distortion could U let your pen forget 2day?
What misfortune left your heart so broken U only say
Words intended 2 belittle or dismay?
What if I say U lie?
Billy Jack Bitch (Well)

Open letters aren't the only things that open wounds
Long hard shiny rocket ships can fly U 2 the moon

Whenever evil wants 2 groove
Come let me fly U 2 the moon
Then U can see how love will bloom
Joy - it's in the dictionary
See "J" Billy Jack Bitch

Do U ever really cry? (Do U ever really cry Billy Jack Bitch?)
Do U ever really try? (Do U ever really try Billy Jack Bitch?)
Do U ever wonder why? (Do U ever wonder why Billy Jack Bitch?)
Oh, Billy Jack Bitch (Billy Jack Bitch)
Billy, Billy, oh yeah yeah yeah!

5. Great choice. For me:
"Don't stop" Fleetwood Mac

"No Surrender" Bruce Springsteen

"Landslide" Stevie Nicks - though the song itself is not related to victory, the title is apt.

"Beautiful Day" U2

8. "Bells of Freedom" by Bon Jovi
Ring the bells, ring them loud
Let them ring here and now
Just reach out and ring the bells of freedom
When your world's crashing down like you've lost every round
Stand your ground
And ring the bells of freedom

"Do You Hear the People Sing" from Les Miserables has also popped into my head a few times. :-)

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Now that you've mentioned "We Are The Champions", I can't get that blasted tune out of my head. Do you know how awfully irritating that is? So, I (not really 'cause I'm too happy tonight) hate you.

14. "Sing Our Own Song" by UB40...
We will no longer hear your command
We will sieze the control from your hand
We will fan the flame
Of our anger and pain
And you'll feel the shame
For what you do in gods name

We will fight for the right to be free
We will build our own society
And we will sing, we will sing
We will sing our own song

17. Here Comes the Sun (God, it's been a long and lonely winter)
Artist: The Beatles Lyrics
Song: Here Comes The Sun Lyrics

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right

Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right
It's all right

31. Beatles...?
Well, of course. But it was George Harrison's song...almost exclusively. He was shut out so many times by Paul and John...it proved that he was no light-weight as a song writer.

I miss George. The quiet Beatle.
