MN SOS -- How did Mike Hatch lose around 20,000 votes in 10 min?
According to what StarTribune posted
Wednesday, November 08 01:31:23 AM
Mike Hatch, D 970,266 46

I tried to verify at the MN SOS site, but there was an error that the server was busy or unavailable.

When I got into the MN SOS website, Hatch is posting about 20,000 LOWER 10 minutes later.

MIKE HATCH AND JUDI DUTCHER 954169 45.31

1. Possible explanations anyone?
I'm trying to think if the MN SOS website is on a computer whose clock is slow, then it could be showing numbers from before the Star Tribune numbers, but where did the Star Tribune get their numbers?

Now I said "about 20,000" but it was actually 16,097 votes less.

16,097 votes was enough to drop Hatch from a ratio of 46/47 with Pawlenty to 45.31/47.06 whereas Pawlenty only gained 7441.

8. Human error, perhaps?
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 08:46 AM by slackmaster
:dunce:

The fact that numbers appearing on a Web site are not the official record seems to go over a lot of peoples' heads. Or maybe they just didn't see the word "unoffocial".

6. Letter to Mike Hatch ((on review I saw a 1 min not 10 min gap?))
Dear Mike Hatch,

I am so exhausted trying to type this up so it is as clear as I can make it. So please bear with me if it got long.

I was watching your race because it was so close hoping you'd pull ahead. I flipped between CNN, ABC & MSNBC while digging for results on the web. Your numbers kept going up and so did Pawlenty's. The TV results at all three stations kept you within 1%.

I was having problems getting into the MN SOS website.. it said it was down or busy. It was after midnight, but I'm not sure the exact time. I figured it was because of the volume of people checking.

So I went to the STRIB website. Later I was able to get into the MN SOS website.

However, I am thinking that the Star Tribune would have pulled their numbers from the MN SOS website or that both the Secretary of State and STRIB would pull from the same source.

In the span of less than 10 minutes, your tally went DOWN by 16,000 plus votes - if you look at what was on the STRIB at 1:31 and what was on the MN SOS site at 1:41 or 1:32*. See below and attached (Sly is what it seems they are.) I copied both exactly as is and I did pick up another comparison later that again had numbers that didn't match the MN SOS site.

November 08 01:31:23 AM STRIB

Tim Pawlenty, R* 998,469 47
Mike Hatch, D 970,266 46 1 minute compare to MN SOS LOST 16,097

November 08 02:44:42 AM STRIB

Tim Pawlenty, R* 1,029,826 47
Mike Hatch, D 1,012,834 46 W/O loss gain of 42,568 & still w/in 1%

11/8/2006 1:32:56 AM MN SOS

TIM PAWLENTY AND CAROL MOLNAU 991028 47.06
MIKE HATCH AND JUDI DUTCHER 954169 45.31 LOSS of 16,097 compared to STRIB

11/8/2006 02:44:52 AM MN SOS

TIM PAWLENTY AND CAROL MOLNAU 1009496 47.08
MIKE HATCH AND JUDI DUTCHER 971752 45.32 gained 17,583 on this site
net gain 1,486

PLEASE. If Pawlenty is trying to get away with something, please stop him. I just want my vote to count and I am tired of the Republican's illegal activities.

* PS
I am so tired and I was trying to post this on the DemocraticUnderground.com when a problem happend on that site and kept kicking me out. Their site got redirected to a bogus site. That had happened before. My pc got warnings that an OLE application was possibly using Wordpad.exe or IE.

Then I had a problem with the first document I saved. It went into Word Viewer and would not let me update so I just copied everything and put it into a notepad document.

I apologize only because I THOUGHT I saw 1:41 for the first time I went to the STRIB site. The reason that time stood out in my mind is because I thought it might explain the discrepency, though I couldn't figure out how the STRIB could have numbers BEFORE the MN SOS published it.

On closer inspection it seems to be 1:32 -- which ACTUALLY is a harder scenario to believe. HOW could any tally be off by that much in 1 minute and ONLY for your results? Did the MN SOS just not ADD some poll location? Because in the second comparison Pawlenty's results aren't matching the STRIB either.
