1. Tester's running well in Yellowstone
If that's really the "home territory" for Burns then Burns is in trouble. Right?

Still only 14% Yellowstone, and only 61% Cascade, which is ALSO trending towards Tester...

Cross your fingers and hold your breath...

4. Yellowstone County is where Billings is
Population 136,000 or so, Billings proper estimated at 105,000. Biggest city in Montana. If there's a liberal stronghold in Montana, this is it!

13. Counties left to report in...
Fergus 50%. Heavy Burns, but very small #'s.
Gallatin 33%. Split 49/49/2. If this holds true, should maintain Tester's slight lead.
Lake 91%. Tester 49% Burns 47%.
Meagher 0%. Supposedly Burns stronghold, but small # of voters.
Yellowstone 14% Burns 49% Tester 48%, but before they yanked the results it was trending Tester's way.

It's all gonna come down to Yellowstone.

Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 05:59 AM by AntiWarPoster
Fergus - Prob +770 for Burns
Gallatin- Prob +400 for Burns
Lake- Prob +10 for Tester
Meagher- no clue - A population of only 1,932. Even if we assume turnout of 60%-1159 voters, and 70% for Burns- that's still only +811 for Burns here
Yellowstone- no clue

Tester should be fine.

He should win by at least 1,000.

here's why. 1,135 vote margin for burns now in yellowstone . 36% alreayd in. So 3153-1135= 2018 remaining

that's less than Burns's overall lead.

Burns could gain another 1000 in Fergus
Gallatin should be about even
Yellowstone could give Burns another 2000
Meagher is a Burns county...not sure of the population

Let's hope we can turn it around somewhere...Yellowstone and Gallatin individual precincts maybe stronger for Tester than those reported so far???

Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 07:33 AM by Awsi Dooger
Miles O'Brien said Yellowstone had to stop the count and begin again because an elections official hadn't properly configured the new voting machines.

So that lead for Tester in Yellowstone among the previous count might not be coming back.

I can just imagine the Election Reform forum if this thing flops.

107. I'm just dead tired and thinking out loud
Every site is waiting for the previous Tester bulge in Yellowstone to show up in the late count. What was it, +1300 or something like that? If the county is claiming the machnes weren't set properly there might not be a +1300 in our future. That's the worst case scenario.

I'm not even sure what type of machines Yellowstone uses. Is it touch screen or optical scan? Paper trail? Miles O'Brien didn't elaborate. It was one sentence and I posted it as close to memory as I could.

145. Not a third count
My impression from what Miles O'Brien said is the second count was caused by machines not properly configured. That's not the initial rationale we were given but O'Brien mentioned it to Tester and Tester seemed to verify it, saying he thought it was merely minor glitches.

Update: CNN reporting software glitch reset the count to zero and Yellowstone had to start over.

Burns need to pick up 1000 votes in Meagher to win. Not enough people live there for tha to be possible.

We'll know Republicans are full of shit if they claim 1300 people voted in Meagher out of 1900, especially considering some are under 18. They can't win!

Remember, there are only 1916 people in Meagher county!

And I bet not more than 1500 are registered to vote! And I bet not more than 900 voted!

I won't believe it for a fact until both Allen (VA) and Burns (MT) give their consolation speeches.

I know Allen will DEMAND a recount, which we will win; and Montana? I just don't know for a fact. Yet. ;)

and hoping that Tester maintains a 900 vote lead so as to avoid a recount. However, after all these gyrations and pre-mature recounts after their state officials told the networks that they would report a projected winner SIX HOURS ago, I think that any recount would be in our favor. ;)

BF will make fun of me, but who cares?

I went to bed about midnight (AZ time) because I was exhausted after about four nights of not very much sleep. With the House securely in our grasp, I thought I'd be able to sleep well and wake up to face a Senate still in the pukes' hands.

It was pretty nerve-wracking to find out it still hasn't been completely decided.

Then I saw these latest few posts about Tester and Webb, and the eyes got a bit misty, then spilled over.

The AP isn't reporting that Tester won only because he called CNN and said that he had.

Only Meagher County has yet to report. However, according to the 2000 Census data on Wikipedia, there are only 2000 people living in the entire county. So even if every man, woman and child in that county voted for Burns, there still isn't enough to overcome Tester's current lead of ~3,000 votes.
