Did anyone see Lauer kiss Mehlman's ass?

It was so gross to watch. First we had Viera grill Emmanuel about what would the Dems do about Iraq? Was their win about the Dem party or was it anti-Bush? And basically: WHEN WILL YOU TELL US YOUR STRATEGY DAMMIT?

Contrast that with Lauer thanking Mehlman for talking to him on such a tough morning and practically begging the audience to weep over Ken's lack of sleep - thanking him for taking the time to talk when he must be sooooooo tired.
Is it me or did anyone think Lauer's treatment of Mehlman was a bit much in the way of fluffing the Beejeesus out of him?

Viera actually sounded angry - she certainly raised her voice to Emmanuel. Matt looked like he was testing the waters, trying to find out if that little "bonus" check would still be arriving under his dressing room door every week.
