1. There are things I like and things I don't
It's a "D" in the Senate (hopefully) and that's great, but he and I are at odds on many social issues. All in all, it's a great win though!

3. Not really, but he's better than the alternative!
I didn't think he was so great when I was a woman in the Navy and he was saying that women shouldn't be able to serve in the Navy.

15. I've known Jim for 20 years and am proud to call him my friend.
He didn't say women shouldn't be allowed to serve in the Navy, he questioned their suitability for combat. He made his comments just a few years removed from the crucible of hand-to-hand jungle combat, and that clearly colored his views. Look at what he actually DID as SecNav in terms of opening up billets to women.

7. If Webb loses, we blame the Greens
The Green Party in Va. got at least 25,000 votes in the Va. Senate Race. If half of those people had voted for Webb, he would be the unquestioned victor. I wonder if the Green Party in Va was funded by GOP activists, like it was in PA.

8. The green party does NOT care for America
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 09:45 AM by still_one
They only care for themseleves

After what happened in 2000, they could have worked within the Democratic party, which was MUCH MORE ALIGNED WITH DEMOCRATS, but didn't

First of all WE HAVE WON VIRGINIA

Second the greens could join us, but they decided not to, therefore they would NOT HAVE VOTED WITH US ANYWAY

They only represent a protest vote nothing more

9. Okay, this needs to be put straight
"The Independent Green Party of Virginia is a political party in the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, formed in early 2004. The party is completely independent of the national Green Party (United States), which does have their own official affiliate in Virginia. This strip party holds a different platform from the Green Party in the respect that they claim to be fiscally conservative. They run on the tag line of "Fiscally Conservative, Socially Responsible." The main issue this party focuses on is transportation with the slogan "More Trains, Less Traffic." Their nickname is the "Indy Greens"."

Wikipedia - INDEPENDENT Greens

Now, I'm not saying that there weren't some Green party voters who were fooled by the name, but this isn't another Nadering.

10. I still wonder if the GOP funded
independent candidate Monica Morehead in the Florida 2000 Presidential race. Was she on any other state's ballot?

Jay Leno mentioned it on his show during the 2000 recount. In Oct 2001 we went on vacation to Key West. The Truman museum in Key West had the notorious Palm Beach ballot on display, and yes, that name, Monica Morehead, was on the ballot.

12. He's the type of guy the Dem's needed to win Va, he appears to be an honest, ethical, straight-taker
He'll probably be an improvement over the Nelson boys.

14. He's also pro-military (I do NOT mean pro defense -- I mean the "troops")
That is a great thing in a state with a lot of military centers.

16. I think it is awesome
that people in red states like MT & VA can say: "enough of your rhetoric, corruption, racism & blind support of Bush's policies". We will align ourselves with the democratic party.
