Do you really think Lieberman will act like a Dem?
Or do you think he will have a chip on his shoulder?

1. Lieberman is too mature
to hold petty grudges. CT voters spoke and re-elected him.

5. yeah he ran
but he did get 49% of the vote so you can't really make the case that the voters didn't want him re-elected. He was the clear choice of Connecticut

i don't see how running as an independent = holding a grudge.

9. The primary voters didn't want him and he pissed at them ...
... and went Indie. So that shows what he thinks of "what the voters want".

11. Democratic voters, however, tossed his ass out
Don't forget that: he was elected by Repugs, not Dems.

6. When was the last time he acted...

... like a Dem? I remember a time when he pretended but that seems like a lifetime ago...

8. Its kind of an awkward situation for both the dems and Lieberman
They didn't support him, yet they may need him. But he did screw them over by not stepping aside. The fact is, the only reason he got re-elected is because the republicans chose the lesser of evils (from their perspective) and voted for Lieberman, not Schlesinger so that Lamont couldn't win.

7. IMO He'll vote pretty much like he always has
Although, I think he'll modify how he supports the Iraq war.

10. Yes
He has nothing with the Republican Party. All he can do is threaten to jump ship. The GOP won't seriously take him in -- they'll be in cannibalism mode in a few hours, and in no mood to roll out the red carpet for a Democratic neo-Boll-Weevil.

I think he'll make nice and maybe eat a spoonful or two of crow.

Two overall observations:

1. This is Joe's last hurrah. All he has is a Republican-assisted win and the possibility to be a kingmaker for a few months, until the next GOP senator is indicted.

2. We must NOT forget Ned Lamont. He was one of the main catalysts for this victory. In a perverse kind of way, he was like Moses, leading us through the desert, but never being admitted to the Promised Land ...

... not yet, anyway.
