these little bastards are going to come back and come back HARD.

they've had their little plaything taken away from them. their sense of entitlement has been affronted.

in short, they're pissed.

i believe that in 2000 the democrats assumed people would want to continue with the same party under which we enjoyed 8 years of peace and prosperity. they discovered, sadly, there's a whole group of people out there who could give a f*ck about that. they want power, and they hate democrats, whom they consider beneath them.

if the democrats want to hang on to the gains they made yesterday, they need to be vigilant. they need to be unified. they need to have a vision and stick to it. they need to communicate. they need to make the average american understand that the democratic party is the one with his interests in mind.

because believe you me, if republicans get power back in '08, they'll do everything they can to make america pay for turning them out yesterday. if you think it's been ugly the past few years, you won't have seen anything.

and for all you dirty little freepers out there, who've spent the morning crying into your jelly donuts as you type from parents' basement:

Mission Accomplished.

1. Absolutely
The Dems have been far behind in our campaign organization and GOTV. We've made gains but we must keep going and improving.

Stay involved in your local Democratic Party. Don't give up!

2. And since the midwest is
now set up to be a real battleground area it looks like we had all better get used to talking about religion regardless of whether we want to or not. Me thinks the fundie fanatics are going to be working overtime. They think that favor, power, prosperity and position are a sign of their spirituality.

3. The Republican Lie Machine is reving up its engines - ready for HYPERDRIVE
Rove's Flying Monkey Brigade is busy mending the rips on their uniforms.

All of us better be ready.

And right now, let's call a moratorium on naive DU'ers spreading their spin about Democrats. Next time Rove sends out a blast fax lying about a Dem, I do not want to see DU'ers echoing it any way shape or form.

4. You're Right. Democrats Can't Afford Complacency
I fully agree those--people--are crying in their Koolaid (tm) this morning, but they'll start thinking about payback and plotting their return to unchecked power by dinnertime. Democrats can't afford to believe that the Good Guys have won and that we can relax.

In some places, things still have a long way to go before sunrise. Here in Texas, the statewide races went to the 'pugs again. The 'pugs still command majorities in the Texas state legislature.

Some of us remember the "fat, dumb, and happy" attitudes many Texas legislators and state party officials continued to hold even after the Gingrich toppled Democratic control of Congress and * became governor, and how that "fat, dumb, and happy" attitude continued into 1996.

We progressive Texans look at what's happening in other states with wistful longing. Unfortunately, we have a much longer road to travel.
