A big thanks to Dean and Kerry
Both of these guys worked damned hard to support our candidates and rally the voters. And I don't think there's going to be much more questioning of the wisdom of Dean's 50 state strategy anymore.

6. And they did it with the establishment Dems undermining them at almost every turn.
The rebuilding of the party infrastructure in EVERY state was LONG OVERDUE - like by TEN YEARS. Let's help Chairman Dean build it even stronger for 2008.

24. No. They did it with the efforts of the entire Democratic Party.
Part of Dean's success was approaching certain states with a more centrist approach in order for those elections to come out positive for us, and to do that, it took all spectrums of the Party to come through.

7. Not only for this election
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 10:23 AM by karynnj
Each made a huge effort to get people involved at the grassroots level in our democracy. Both do not see democracy as a spectator sport - where raising the most money possible is the end all and be all of the party. This is the real essenence of what democracy has to be.

They were fight - Dean in funding party development everywhere and Kerry speaking of making things ballot box issues.

In addition to these, you have Gore who is on the same page - our votes determine policies that, if wrong, can destroy the earth.

30. He'll have a hard time doing it
There are a lot of everyday Dems who are very solidly pro-Dean. That's how Dean got the job he's got, despite the Rahm's of the world. And that's how he'll keep his job AND his relevance.

Increasingly I dislike this guy.

by the media and I don't hear the thank yous, coming from the likes of Schumer and Emanuel, but we know how hard they have worked.

13. Abso-fuckin'-lutely!
I don't think the Dems would have this victory if it weren't for the hard work Dean put into building up the state party structure. And Kerry -- thank you for keeping Bush's feet to the fire!

15. No doubt in my mind Kerry made a difference in Virginia
He swayed my vote, probably thousands of votes, in the primaries by saying Webb could be trusted. And it's simply a fact that Webb had a better chance than Miller in the general. Then Kerry raised a lot of money for Webb, who then got recognized by the NSCC to give more money.

Dean was also right to field candidates across the country -- that aiming high strategy meant we had ample room to take the House. Kerry also played a big role for many "Fighting Dems" in the House.

Criss-crossing the country to stump for candidates even though they don't have any (official) positions in the Party.

19. .
Exactly. I can't even remember how often I've seen Clark with various candidates. He did a great job, too. As did Kerry and Dean.
The Dems in genereal waged a great campaign and they deserve some respect.

And also a thx to Michael J. Fox. I bet he swayed a few voters as well. Thank you very much.

18. Dean, and Emanuel and Schumer, Kerry and others.
They're the best. Dean knew we needed to go to all 50 states. Emanuel and Schumer are tireless workhorses. Matching candidates to areas we needed to win--very smart to go for conservative Dems in some of them. Because that's where America is this year.

Kerry has been pouring his energy and resources into this election for almost two years--and deserves the gratitude of all Dems. It wouldn't have been such a rout without him.

Many thanks to all!

23. Thanks from me!
Dean built an awesome Democratic infrastructure. Kerry campaigned hard and raised a lot of money that went directly to candidates, and not just for national office! We have Democratic Governors in Ohio and Mass. There are many positive gains to be joyful about this morning.

Take back the Congress was a awesome success!

Emanuel and Schumer delivered the House and Senate.

Dean laid the groundwork in the longshot races to make it look as good as it does.

Dean and Kerry have taken a lot of shit from the old guard in the past year or so... I'm betting they both feel pretty vindicated right now. As well they should. Thank you, Howard Dean and John Kerry, for helping save American democracy.
