I feel as though OUR country is actually coming back! I've said I have felt the tide turn before, but now I actually feel it. I actully cried when I heard about the cutting of Interest Rates on student loans...maybe we can actually afford to buy a house now and live in non-indentured servitude now.

I'm happy because I voted.

I'm happy because I fought the good fight.

I'm happy because Webb won.

I'm happy because Sherrod Brown, a family friend, won.

I'm happy for Pennsylvania, Montana, and all other states with good people who know how to say enough is enough.

I'm happy because Rumsfeld is going bye bye.

I'm happy because my daughter has a future and it is not a classist, racist, society that will define it.

8. I still can't quite believe it....

After the 2000 and 2004 debacles, I'm having a very hard time letting my guard down. Unfortunately, we are still stuck with another four years of Tommy "the tool" Pawlenty as the governor of Minnesota.

But otherwise, I'm prepared to be thrilled when ya'll convince me that the rug won't be pulled out from under us somewhere, like Virginia.

16. Look at all they have put us through

...in the past six, long years: the stolen 2000 election, 9/11, the anthrax scare, invasion of Iraq, destruction of our nation's reputation, yet another stolen election, and destruction of our faith in our own democracy with abuse of power, desecration of our constitution, manipulation of the vote... It has been hell. I could hardly believe it last night to hear that Blackwell had been ousted. I burst into tears, because of all they have done to us. But with checks and balances again, it does seem their reign of terror is over.

I'm feeling a good cry coming on, myself! The last six years have been so dark and almost hopeless. Whether we gain Virginia or not, our country is looking like a much healthier place today.

9. This year has been so shitty for me until last night

My dad died in April of a heart attack, both my wife and I have been going through depression, and two of my favorite teams lost heartbreaking Game 7s at home in the NBA and MLB playoffs (Spurs and Mets). Not to mention I felt like Bush and the Republicans were destroying America and that they would do whatever it took to retain their power. Then the blue wave washed over the land and now I feel nothing but hope for this country. Once again I can truly say I'm proud to be an American! OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!

and my sister got to vote for the first time. It appears that all her/our candidates won and I'm happy for that. I'm happy we won the House, the majority of governorships, and most likely the senate!
