Momentary lapse into enthusiasm and optimism contained; cynicism returns
As depressed as I was after the '04 theft, I was half as elated during and after the '06 prevention of theft and honestly won victory. (Can't be totally elated until Bush and Cheney are impeached, convicted and consigned by history as mean-spirited, destructive and insignificant - mere commas.

But with all the sound-bites and after-effects and press conferences and analysis and ands etc., my cynicism rears up: so long as anyone calls Bush "President" we have not yet won. And I fear we are being distracted. I hope not. I hope the investigations and demand for accountability for past elections comes first and fast.

Oh, well, I must have that Scotch already.

3. And it will usher in, as Dems promised, a new era of accountability!
Meaning, the media will suddenly find that they need to hold the House Dems accountable for everything, instead of just taking audio clips of Repukes saying how great things are, don't look at the details, don't ask questions!

4. This has got to be a new record, even for DU.
A Democratic landslide victory is a "distraction"? Isn't that what was said about Foley, and Haggard, and the Baker report, and practically everything else good that's happenened in the last year?

People--WE WON! Rumsfeld is gone already, Bush is a lame duck who just got legislatively de-balled, and we punched the ticket of many of the worst Republicans in Congress. For fuck's sake, let's enjoy it!
