I'm emaling my congressman Mike Castle - you guys need to fight for leadership jobs

For those who don't know who Mike Castle is, he is the lone representative from my state of Delaware and one of the most moderate republicans in DC. He was the author of the only bill veto'd by George Bush in the last six years - the Stem Cell research bill. I didn't vote for Mike in 2006 because I'm a democrat, but I didn't bother much with his race because I knew that Pennsylvania had more competitive races where I could help make a difference.

However, in light of the overwhelming downfall of the neo-conservatives in congress, I think it's time that the true republicans of the republican parties (IE the ones that wouldn't make republicans like Abraham Lincoln spin in his grave) to take back their party. Obviously for twelve years, the Contract on America has failed our country and we overwhelmingly voted to ditch that farce. That Contract, the 1994 election that brought droves of neo-cons into office and into leadership, is dead and now is the time for true republicans like Mike Castle to take back their party. Perhaps Mike isn't the best for a leadership role (he has a mini-stroke last year); however, he should ban together with some of the other moderates and demand that they get a position of leadership like the minority chair or whip.

Republicans use to be the party of conservative spending but the past twelve years they became the party of conservative values and out-of-control spending. Moderate Republicans, the republicans who truly represent the party of Lincoln, need to take back their party and control of leadership. Help end this partisanship we've dealt with for twelve years!
