Who voted for Lieberman...demograhics. And a thanks to Ned.
No reason, just interesting.

http://www.myleftnutmeg.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=4529

"Looking through the exit polling numbers emerge which were very close to those of the Quinnipiac polls in the last week. CNN's exit polling on the race had 1909 respondents. Here is what they found:

Men chose Lieberman by 12% over Lamont

White men by 18%

Lamont won the Black and the Latino vote

Lamont won the under 45 vote; Lieberman by 16-20% the over 45

24% more if over 65

Lamont won if your total income was 50,000 or less; Lieberman was 24% higher if your income was 200,000 or more

Higher educated people voted for Lamont

72% of those who support Bush were Lieberman supporters

77% who strongly approve of the Iraq War support Joe Lieberman

72% of those say send more troops

Lieberman beat Lamont by 17% among urban voters

..but Lamont beat Lieberman among those in the large cities"

Thanks, Ned, for putting yourself and your family through this. It will not have been in vain either way. It showed up the clear divisions in our party in a way that nothing else could have done. .

1. The worst thing Joe did was ignore the voters of his party.
It set a pattern. If others follow it, there won't be a strong party. He has weakened us.

3. Lieberman had to sell his soul to Karl Rove & the Repukes
The RSCC did some GOTV for Lieberman and of course Rove directed the Republican fundraisers to assist Lieberman.

Not all incumbants are amoral, like Lieberman. And most incumbants won't have the financial resources to run in a general election after losing the primary.

Lieberman is an experienced politician. He started planning for the GE on July 3, 2006 when he announced that he would gather petitions. Lieberman planned on losing the primary. He only put effort into it when the Q-poll showed him down 13 points a week before the primary. He could not afford a double digit loss to a newcomer and then run a GE.

Lieberman serves Rove and the Neocons best as a mole in the Dem caucus. Lieberman will caucus with the Dems and spill any beans he can to Rove and the neocons.

4. I have felt so bad for the people of CT.
He should be ashamed of what he did. What alarms me more are the people coming here to DU and saying that the people of CT had their say.

No, the Dems had their say in August, and they said NO.

Sorry all that had to happen.

5. It's gotta feel good for Ned Lamont
to look at those numbers, too.

What a patriot he is..I can't thank him enough for running when no one else stepped up to run against lieberman.

As some seem not to realize it.

7. WP shows Joe's Republican support in an earlier article.
Verifies that Joe had huge support among Republicans and courted them for money and support.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/01/AR2006110100679.html

"Lieberman has the support of 70 percent of Republicans and 58 percent of independents, according to an Oct. 20 Quinnipiac University survey. Republican Alan Schlesinger trailed far behind in single digits in the head-to-head matchup. Lieberman's coattails could carry the GOP incumbents to re-election and undercut Democratic hopes of majority control of the House.

"It does help me," Shays said in a recent interview. "I know there will be a lot of Republicans who will vote for him, as well as a lot of independents and Democrats. ... Joe is the kind of person who reaches across the political divide, and I am like that as well."

Shays is running neck-and-neck against Democrat Diane Farrell in a district that includes affluent New York City suburbs such as Greenwich and Westport. It's a rematch of a bruising fight that Shays survived by just 4 percentage points two years ago.

"Lieberman has a lot of Republican support and that should help the other races," said Charles Flynn Jr., a Republican and former Norwalk city councilor."

8. Joe's offhand remark to the WP..."I haven't thought about it."
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 03:38 PM by madfloridian
"Loath to be seen as a spoiler, Lieberman dismissed the idea that his success could hurt the Democratic effort to retake the House.

"I haven't thought about it," Lieberman said. Contending that most voters tend to cross party lines, he added: "People are going to be smart enough to pick their way."

He hasn't even thought about it? This is the party that begged us to stay on board in 04? But he hasn't even thought about it?

Joe's campaign sent the NYT a rude letter when they endorsed Ned
