Rumsfeld ouster timing.
Is it just me that thinks that this was done today (as opposed to say, tomorrow or Friday) to stomp all over the Dems' one day in the sun?

I was elated until I saw it on TV and now I mad again at absolutely no gloat time for the Dems (well deserved).

1. No.
It was so that it was not before the election. It would have made Bush look weak. They cannot have that and it would have demoralized their fanatical extreme right-wing base.

You really think they care about Democrats gloating?

3. Doesn't it add to the gloating?
We defeated the GOP Senators
We defeated the GOP Congresspeople
We defeated the GOP Govenors

and now we've defeated the GOP Secretary of Defense

4. I don't know, but it could have something to do with this...
On November 14 a group of lawyers and other experts will come before the German federal prosecutor and ask him to open a criminal investigation targeting Donald Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales and other key Bush Administration figures for war crimes. The recent passage of the Military Commissions Act provides a central argument for the legal action, under the doctrine of universal jurisdiction: It demonstrates the intent of the Bush Administration to immunize itself legally from prosecution in the United States, even for the most serious crimes

7. I think that might be it!
To the others, I am fairly surprised! My spouse is not a political junkie and *he* was annoyed that Bush did not leave the stage to the Dems for at least a day, like both Gore and Kerry did ever so graciously. Gore stayed out of the arena for nearly a year and extended that period further after 9/11...

IMO, Darth Cheney will NOT be replaced until *close* (3 months perhaps) before the end of the Front Man's term.

12. yes
that's exactly why they did it. They knew they were going to lose the House, at least. So change the subject any way you can and this was the only thing Bush could do.
