Nancy Pelosi .... you rock my world!
Our local (Baltimore) teevee station just did a story about the local girl who made good. They interviewed her busting-with-pride older brother, 77-year-old former Baltimore mayor Tommy D'Allesandro III. He is so clearly proud of his kid sister. Said his pop would have been crying. His pop being Tommy D'Allesandro, Jr, also a former Baltimore mayor. They also served terms in Congress, just like Nancy is. Actually, I guess that's the other way around.

This woman lived her entire life in a highly political family of populist Democrats. In Baltimore, the D'Allesandro name is still held in near mythical reverence.

And Nancy is a chip off the old block, for sure. there's a story that's been in wide circulation that, as a little kid, she refused to shake someone's hand because she'd heard he was a Republican. I don't know if that's true or not, but I've heard it more than a few times.

When she married her husband and moved to his native San Francisco, she found herself right back in a political family, with brothers in law serving on San Francisco's city council (called something different there ... selectmen? No matter.).

Make no mistake, this woman knows her way around a strategy meeting and is no pushover, her sweet, (gorgeous) grandmotherly demeanor notwithstanding. She learned it at the knee of one of the best.

This woman will make us all very proud to be Democrats. She's already made her hometown DAMN proud.

The first woman speaker is Nancy D'Allesandro Pelosi.

Go Get 'em, Nancy. You Rock!

3. Neither Pelosi or Reid "Rock My Boat" but I thought Pelosi did credible
job today in her Press Conference.

I hope she will be true to first thing on her list in her "First 100 Hours" List to Do...which was to "DRAIN THE SWAMP!" She, didn't include that on her list in her "presser" this a.m. but I understand that she was trying to be conciliatory and throw a peace bone to Bush before she and our House Dems go ON ATTACK against them.

It was great political strategy...but let's hope that Pelosi sticks with her promise to us progressives and DRAINS THE SWAMP. We have to hope that she knows "WE" Activists Grassroots are out there watching and waiting.
We are giving her some slack......BUT, it won't LAST FOREVER.

4. It was so odd
I went onto her 100 days post on the huff post. I rarely post over there. I posted a congratulatory blessings post, or rather I tried to do so. It just poured through me. It was gorgeous and lengthy.

Then when I went to hit post the 'puter said, "server failed." Then the post disappeared. My guidance said, "she got the message." I hope she did. Bless her soul.

8. I love Nancy pelosi
She is going to be great. She will not let Bush walk all over her. I think they are in for a some tough battles. But I also think she will prevail in a lot of those battles.

12. There was a great article about her in the Az paper today
I never really knew much about her.
The article was about how she is organized, and great at getting people to work together.

I have a good feeling about her. She will make a great Madame Speaker.
And how exciting for her to have a place in history.

13. Nancy P is a politician to the bone, in the best sense of the word
She knows how to get things DONE, and she knows how to work with people. I think we can look for some arm-twisting from her, and some tough compromising as well.

I know the compromise part is not going to go over well with some who post at DU. But historically that's exactly how the best Speakers of the House have operated to get things DONE. The past 12 years have been hell on any sense of bipartisanship and compromise in the Congress, but I hope that she can be a big part of restoring civility and honor to the People's House.

She's been making Californians proud all along.

Hekate
