We need to focus on making House gains in '08
We are likely to hold the House by about 30 seats, meaning that a 15-seat gain by the Republicans could flip it. Not likely to happen in just two years, but it's certainly doable within a cycle as we just showed.

So we need to make sure to make net gains in the next couple of cycles to pad our majority comfortably.

We ought to focus especially on blue states like New York, Illinois, and Ohio (!!!) where we made House gains but continued to leave some left-leaning and moderate districts with Republican representation.

Perhaps Duckworth again against Roskam? Would Maffei be a good candidate in NY-25 again? Can we unseat Tom Reynolds in NY-26? Or Massa over Kuhl again in NY-29? How about Chris Shays (although if he hold on this year, he may not be beatable)? Deborah Pryce in Ohio? And should we give a strong challenge to Montana's at-large seat (we control two of their Senate seats and their governorship - surely we can find a good candidate for House)?

Any ideas?
