Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 09:05 PM by Greatwildbeast
Have been looking forward to this since that DARK day after the 1994 election. But be carefull: We won this one on a cliffhanger and got a lot of help from those assholes in the GOP.

Next time we might not be so lucky. So stick together, get a paper ballot national law and avoid corruption like the plague.

That and hang a few GOP leaders left standing.

Figuratively speaking that is.

10. It just occurred to me -- oh, sweet irony
A FORMER Republican put us over the top, just as so many, many Republican or former Republican voters gave us so many victories all across the nation.

Woohoo!

12. Webb's people ran a great campaign once they got the resources
They remained classy, but didn't take any BS from Allen's camp at all. His ads were very good--gave voters a good reason to support him--while his idiotic but well-financed opponent tried every false smear he could. It was deju vu Tim Kaine 2005--although a little too close for comfort this year!!!

18. Yes!! It's still all sinking in...
I am so excited about the next 2 years. The dems have a great opportunity here to try to define ourselves for the first time in the 21st century. This is the moment to bring to the forefront the progressive vision & introduce it to the American people - we can try to shape the agenda to an extent and that agenda should be: Iraq, voting reform, prescription drug reform, energy independence, healthcare, stem cells, tax reform (even if Bush vetoes stuff, we can bring these issues on the national radar) etc.

Let's get the ball rolling... this election is a gift to dems because voters voted against the national mood & not necessarily FOR the progressive vision. This is the time to DEFINE THE DEMOCRATIC ALTERNATIVE! So that next time people actually vote FOR the Democratic/progressive principles.

38. 9 terms for Sen. Byrd
Byrd's opponent wasted 2 million + of his own cash in the losing cause.
Damn, how much of a payback does a GoP senate seat get when a repuke will bet 2 million bones of his own dough on the outcome?
Oh well, nothing in this case.

Man, I'm still in shock that we actually did it. I figured we'd definitely get the house, but thought we'd fall just short of the senate by 1 or 2 seats.

This is a cause for celebration! :toast:

The other side is wrong and has been wrong.

We are mainstream, they are being sent up river.

The good people of America deserve nothing less.

Why is it better, other than the obvious power differential, to have a conservative Democrat from the South in power and oust a very liberal Republican from the North that generally voted more liberal than many southern Democrats. I'm just wondering.
