We have won...BUT
Edited on Wed Nov-08-06 11:08 PM by Mythsaje
It's only the beginning of the job we have to do. And I say "we" with a slight hint of irony, since "we" can only hope to prod and cajole our new Democratic Congress to do the things that need to be done.

Though it may not seem like it, winning the election was the easy part. Now the job gets dirty. It's about investigating the corruption within Congress, the influence of lobbyists like Abramoff and his ilk, and how it all came together to put us into an unwinnable war.

We need to work on getting things done that the American people want. That the American people asked for.

Healthcare reform.

Election reform. Perhaps even public financing.

Restoration of environmental protections.

Renewable energy sources.

Getting out of Iraq.

We need to fight hard and fight smart.

Repeal of the Military Commisions Act,getting out of Iraq.A review of those in the Democrat Party who voted for these things. The centrist bipartisan consensus to continue the war, voiced by some Democrats needs to stop.No return to the quisling accomodation that got us into the mess we're in currently.

3. Yes, and I hate to bring this up, but.....
we are now going to get blamed for EVERYTHING. It won't matter that the mess needing clean-up is 100% due to the disaster of the last six years--Dems will be blamed. We need to keep our eyes on the prize, and not be distracted by the wave of vicious baiting which is brewing now, even as we celebrate.

Okay, I'll stop now.

6. A Foundation For A Brighter Tomorrow
A Foundation for the Future. Everything we do should be framed around the idea that success is built on a solid foundation and that's what governments do, keep the foundation stable so people can build their dreams.
