Media Rehab of * beginning
Watching MSNBC and hearing Russert, Scarborough and other whores attempting to rehabilitate Bush's image. Instead of remarking about what a bloodied beaten but still remorseless liar and bully Bush is, they are painting him as "evolving," reaching out, ready to compromise, rethinking Iraq, working on his legacy, less combative, chastened, humbled, conciliatory, privately realizing Rumsfield needing to go etc. etc. Hopelessly naive niceguy Lanny Davis was on, pleading with the Dems to take the high road, be bipartisan and fair to Republicans, and even admit they engaged in the same behavior as these repugs did when they held both houses. Scarborough was saying the same things. Meanwhile they forgot to mention that the Repugs still have all the same media shills, all the hate radio programs, all the mouthpiece national papers and think tanks who will continue lying and slathering makeup on the failed fratboy fascist all while attacking Dems more viciously than ever before.

It is time to fight to take back this nation and make sure these bastards are completely neutered. Its time to redistrict the nation in a way that ends unfair Republican advantage, time to nationalize campaign funding, reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, make election day a holiday, repeal voter ID requirements, abolish computerized voting and bury under subpoenas, the architects and flunkies who have financially, morally and militarily weakened our nation and who were willing to crush our democracy in order to implement their "grand designs." When Pat Roberts, Oral Hatch, Denny Hastert and the like are humiliated and disgraced; when the whole gang of thugs including Bush and Cheney are forced to testify under oath about their roles in covering up and facilitating the disasters that was this Administration; when the words Bush and Republican Congress becomes synonymous with criminality and treason, then we talk bipartisanship.

2. He had six freaking years to "evolve"
but he apparently had an evolution epiphany last night and they're giving him credit? A pox on all their houses . . .

4. Keith Olbermann and E.J. Dionne provided the balance.
If you are given to watching MSNBC, don't forget to tune in to Keith Olbermann's show, "Countdown," which doesn't buy into the popular media myth of Bush as a nice guy, rather than the manipulative, cynical, ruthless politician he so obviously is.

Olbermann showed clips of that sorry performance at the press conference today (typical Bush, with rude interruptions and prolonged, pointless jokes eliciting laughter from a compliant press) and the various inconsistencies (Read: lies) produced during it.

Dionne, a columnist at The Washington Post and a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, was asked about potential investigations of the administration by the Democratic Congress. Aside from saying he expected hearings and the like on issues such as Halliburton, he helpfully pointed out that the Republican Congress had spent considerable effort on wasteful, pointless investigations of Bill Clinton's administration.

I'd also recommend that you check in with Media Matters for America, the media monitoring group that points out bias. FAIR also performs this service.
