Now is not the time for cowardice on the minimum wage
"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

A great democrat said that once. I'd like to see it actually mean something to this Democratic Party and base that's been revamped. When it comes to minimum wage increase a peace meal offering will not work.

On this board and as democrats we have discussed how corporations are robbing working people blind. When it comes to paying a decent wage we know they can't be trusted as their is little incentive for the corporate community to hold each other accountable. They have robbed labor blind and gotten fat off of their backs.

In America we believe folks should be rewarded for a hard days work. As laborers our productivity has gone up 2/3 over the last twenty years. All that wealth we've created has not increased our standards of living and have made that fat cats fatter. We as a party have a great opportunity to do some great things for the good people who have given us a second shot.

We owe the voters, the poor, the working mothers and fathers of this country more than a measly minimum wage increase. As I see it, anything short of ten dollars an hour is going to be laughed off at by our new found consituents. We as a party and the party that stands for working folks across this country should settle for nothing less!!!! I know those that voted our fine folks in will not.

We made promises that we were going to make a difference in these people lives. They are going to hold us to it. That much I can guarentee you. Let's prove to them that we mean what we say and we intend to back our promises.

I have no worries about the "business community" on this one. If they want to complain about their hardships they have another party to complain to. They are called Republicans; The supply side party. Let them make the case to their starving constituents whom they've worked so hard to bankrupt and impoverish.

Do not let the business community scare you about job losses. They've threatened our lively hoods so many times it's become the little boy who cryed wolf. We must be bold and stand firm with working people on this one if we are to maintain our majorities.

Those are the stakes.

1. Giving the average citizen a little more money
will be GOOD for the economy. I don't care what those idiots say.

2. I don't think they are "idiots"
Some are just a little scared. Others have the blinders on because of their own class interests.

It's complicated.

The righties on the otherhand are a different story.
