Sore Loserman Burns!
His opponent sez he lost....

The mainstream media sez he lost...

The right-wing media sez he lost....

The Republican Sec. of State sez he lost.....and without enough votes for a recount....

But Conrad Burns thinks he'll come out in the end. This guy is a megalomaniac.

1. The power these people feel must be intoxicating.
Think of Lieberman in switching to Independent just so he can keep his seat that he felt entitled too.

4. That's it, you see--he thinks it is HIS seat, not the seat of the people of CT nt

5. Entitled?
CT gave him a solid margin of victory

Gosh, the voters picking someone else over Lamont is such a travesty. They spoke. Respect that decision.

6. I do respect their decision.
What I was talking about was how he reacted after losing the Democratic primary. He seemed to think that that was His seat.

3. Well, the addled little twit will have to pay for it himself, won't he?
Under Montana law, a candidate for the Senate may request a recount at the state’s expense if defeated by a margin of less than ¼ of 1 percent, or about 1,010 votes in this race. If the candidate is defeated by a margin of between ¼ of a percent and ½ of 1 percent, or 2,020 votes, the campaign may request a recount at its expense. The returns in the Senate race, which show Tester with a margin of 2,847 votes over Burns, are not official until canvassed by the state’s 56 counties.

7. Burns really REALLY wants to keep his seat?
Well for crying out loud...just give him the damn chair in his office and...
tell him to move aside so the work can progress.
That's what HIS advice to Al Gore was back in 2000, so he must think it's good.
:sarcasm:
Seriously, if he's this outta touch, it's a good thing he's been ousted.
I knew he was a lockstep bribe-taking yes-monkey Bushbot...
but I didn't realize he was...er...possibly confused.
Although some of the statements he's been making lately could be an indication...

8. I really do think he has some dementia issues.
I mean, that firefighter crack, and the Guatemalan jokes...it's almost as though the "governor" of his mind is broken; the old internal STFU FACHRISSAKE that we all have.

That's possibly either dementia caused by boozing it up too much, or just ye olde altzheimers settling in. Or it could have been simple exhaustion from actually having to campaign a bit.

11. No, it started when...
...Jack Abramoff started filling his coffers. All the bling went to his head.

12. I don't know how well that corruption shit alone was sticking to him
He was "bring home the bacon man" and so long as the GOP was in charge, it would be a slow process to nail the guy. I agree that Abramoff was another nail in his coffin, along with the Guatemalan joke, but I think the final nail was that firefighter comment (cleaned up in this report, the actual quote was PISSPOOR job) which offended mightily, especially amongst those who know how hard those guys work:

HELENA - Republican Sen. Conrad Burns chastised a group of firefighters over the weekend for doing a “poor job” of squelching a 92,000-acre blaze near Billings, a state report shows.

Burns and the firefighters - members of the Augusta Hotshots from the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest in Virginia - were at the Billings Logan International Airport awaiting flights, according to Burns and U.S. Forest Service representatives.

Burns approached the firefighters and told them they had “done a poor job” and “should have listened to the ranchers,” according to a report prepared by Paula Rosenthal, a Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation employee who was sent to the airport to speak with the senator....

13. He's always been that way
He's the guy that made the 'slave auction' crack way back, when he was referring to a fundraiser, and some other crack about getting used to being around black people in DC. He's always been an embarrassment. I lived in the state when he was elected and I've got no idea why people voted for him except they thought he wasn't a crooked insider.
