Impeach or increase the minimum wage, end the war? I'm conflicted |
|
I really am.
These guys that were just elected have two years. Not a lot of time to spend on impeaching a president who's already a lame duck. As much as I would LOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVE to see this criminal get fryed, what of the other issues?
We have a second chance here. One that was mostly handed on a silver platter in protest and a last ditch effort hoping we can prove something. Two years is not a lot of time and if they waste too much time investigating and impeaching not much will be accomplished.
I'm thinking they focus on healthcare, Minimum wage and getting us out of that mess in Iraq. We make some headway there and 08 is in the bag with some red states to boot.

1. I agree 100% . . . besides, if we spend the next two years . . . |
|
simply collecting the evidence and building the case, we can always prosecute the bastards after they leave office . . .
if we can extradite them from Paraguay . . .

2. We need to deliver the goods |

I want to spring the trap under these war criminals as much as anyone. But we've got to get down to business. It will be important to force bushco to defend torture and corruption daily in the open. But no worthwhile legislation will actually clear the Monkey House. In the mean time, a lot of Americans are in need of immediate assistance. And no where are they in greater need than the Gulf Coast. No one has been shanked worse by the republicans. And no where else will we do more damage to the Republicans by getting these Southern folks some long overdue help. There must be a way to employ the apparatus of the party to take Direct Action. One thing we might do is suggest to the Criminal Organizations looting the treasury via Iraq that it might go better for them if they were to assist in these efforts.

6. It's about how much time we have |
|
Two years in the legislative branch goes by very quickly. I'm not so certain we have the right dogs on our side that will vote party line on impeachment.
We can get out of Iraq.
We can raise the minimum wage.
We can even start on health care.
Impeachment may be way too time consuming. You're talking about at least nine months to a year and a half. The Clinton impeachment took too much time for Republicans to pursue and was a waste. Do you think looking back the Republicans would like to have that time back?

8. Lobbyists and corruption |
|
If we deal with lobbyists and corruption, we won't need to impeach Bush/Cheney because they become toothless.
