Thank you CT Republicans!
By backing Lieberman, you handed the US Senate right over to the Democrats 51-49! You could have backed your own candidate and he might have conceivably gotten 37% or so of the vote and maybe WON.

But NO. You decided that embarassing the Democratic party and demoralizing the CT Democratic base is more important, so you enabled that arrogant jerk's sore-loser run.

Well it looks like he's not changing parties for now, and I don't think he will now that Dems are in the majority. Joe is first and foremost about Joe, and if Joe's in power he'll stay there.

So thanks! Now we can block your judges and we can help pass legislation your stupid president will be forced to veto, and YOUUUUUUU helped!

Thanks again, from a proud Lamont supporter and CT democrat.

1. Huh?

Even if they support Schlesinger, he still doesn't have a chance against either Lieberman or Lamont, especially not in a year like this in a state as blue as CT.

you underestimate how much Connecticut residents love Joe. Lots of Repubs and Indys still would have voted for him

2. I think this might be what he's getting at -
if the GOP and RNC and RSCC and White House hadn't abandoned Schlessinger, and if Jodi Rell had endorsed him and campaigned with him, and if Lieberman hadn't actively campaigned to win Republican votes, then Lieberman and Lamont could have, IN THEORY, torn each other to pieces trying to win the Dems and independents.

IN THEORY... if that perfect storm had taken place, Joe and Ned could have IN THEORY split the Dems and Independents and collectively taken about 60% of the total vote, allowing Schlessinger to perhaps scrape in with 40% and a plurality in a three-way race.

I don't think it ever would have happened, but I think that's the theory.

Cheers. :)

4. I would not look at it that way. CT repubs are not at all like the
Bush repubs, which is why many could not stand to vote for Schlessinger. They are looking for someone who is socially progressive, yet fiscally conservative. Joe seems to fit that mold.

5. to that I want to add
that CT voters, especially puke and Indie voters, may have looked at what level of power their state would weild if Leiberman returns. Seniority plus being the critical swing vote on many important issues gains a lot of favors.

I sincerely belive that those that voted for Leiberman will regret it if Leiberman doesn't change his ways. But only time will tell.

The first test will be if Bolton makes it to the floor for nomination to the UN.
