Personally, I nominate Russ Feingold as Majority Leader |

He was correct about everything and he was fearless in voting his conscience when most around him caved. To me, that is what being a leader is all about.

except such a position could possibly interfere with a Senators presidential aspirations; too time consuming.

2. I agree and disagree....and I LOVE Feingold |
|
He would be great, and he voted against the Patriot Act and the Gulf War.
My motives are selfish. I want him to run for Prez in 08, and the WORST job from which to run is Majority Leader, where the minority party can trap you into difficult decisions to explain with soundbites.
So, I am torn.

4. He's my favorite for President as well. And I think he is just the guy to |
|
break the jinx on Senators. I really trust him and I think he should be Leader of the Pack (vroom! vroom!)

5. Unfortunately, that'll never happen until the Progressive caucus |
|
is the majority. As it is, the push is on to claim it was the centrists won back both houses.

6. And this made me mad as it is also clear that they would have said |
|
the progressive have lost if we had lost.
Cannot we give some credit to the fact that some of the candidates for the Senate are progressive in more than a way, and that they are certainly not centrist:
Webb may be more conservative than I would like, but he is not a centrist, neither are Tester, Whitehouse, Brown, and certainly not Bernie Sanders. Without them, we would not have won the senate.
The grassroots won this election.

7. Given the current climate, it will be far easier to move to the center from the left instead |
|
of the Right, in 08.
The public has had enough of race baiting, gay bashing class warfare bullshit, then to have the Wingnut pass the I Love Puppies Act right before the election.
Far more credible would be Feingold reaching across to craft bi-partisan legislation to pass some bill that would help his credentials.
And by the way, given this week's election, what is so liberal about Russ? He was right on the war, right on Patriot Act (twice) and pro-choice. The majority of Americans agree with him across the board.
What's the problem I'm not seeing?
