Thank God for John Murtha. Too bad Pelosi isn't consistent like he is
with her rhetoric.

Democratic warhawk, John Murtha, was at it again this morning on the news. The guy is relentless and I love it. You don't hear him backing down at all from his position on Iraq. He's still spouting things like how that country is just a mess, how Iraqis want us out of there, and how 61% of Iraqis think it's okay to kill an American. He's pointing out right away how Bush, Gates, & the pukes are planning on bringing us more of the same instead of going in a different direction like what the voters voted for. For anyone who was wondering who'd be the first Democrat who'd step up since the elections, and walk the walk, Murtha fits the bill. Nice to see we have one tough Democrat speaking up and echoing the demands of the voters.

Then there's Nancy Pelosi. There were few people bashing the life out of George Bush over the past couple of years more than Nancy did. Haha, you'd never know it after listening to her the last couple of days. I know there are plenty of people who are going to say she's being smart, she's being political, and so on, considering she's going to head the House and the elections were just 2 days ago. The thing is, the lady I'm hearing now isn't the same lady I heard calling Bush a liar and a warmonger a while back, among many other things. I haven't heard a shred of that old toughness coming from her like we've heard in the past. Instead, it's more like a lovefest. Now, I don't expect her to show vitriol towards Bush like she has recently, but I would like to hear just a wee bit of toughness coming from her like what Murtha is doing. All I've heard so far is how badly she wants to work with Bush and how impeachment is off the table. Woo hoo. It's not just how badly she wants to cooperate with Bush, but how often and how emphatically she lets it be known in just a short matter of time. I realize we have to extend our hands to them, but we don't have to roll over and STFU about everything we've been talking about concerning bringing the troops home in a hurry. How many times are you going to extend that olive branch to Bush, Nancy? She looks like a pushover to me. It's as if she's more worried about what Republican will think of her than she is about pissing off the loyal Democratic base who are the reason she's made it to where she is. Bush said in his phone call with Nancy right after we won the House that it was a wonderful call, very gracious and blah blah blah. I'm glad I didn't hear it.

Murtha truly has spine, and he's not playing Mr Nice Guy just because of an election where we clobbered their asses. I hope more Democrats step up their rhetoric just like he's consistently doing.

1. He's set to be the majority
leader - I heard last night that it wouldn't be wise to count him out.

2. It would be sheer stupidity and political folly
for Pelosi to behave precisely as she has over the past couple of years. Bush knows he's toast, but he's still a stubborn bastard. You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I expect Pelosi to be venomous without loosing her cool... or her smile.

Mostly I find it quite amusing how many here and many on the right are casting aspersions on day two. Patience is a virtue. Let Bush stew and enjoy the show.

3. Completely agree.
On both points. Pelosi, above all her other endearing qualities, is SMART and knows how to play the cards. And yes, we need to be patient. Our new MAJORITIES won't even get sworn in for two months.

4. Oh come on. No one, not even me, expects her to behave "precisely" the same
as she has over the past couple of years. At the same token she COULD show us a couple signs of life.

5. Give her time...
I have faith in her. This will take great diplomacy and a firm resolve. I have no doubt that stubborn-ass W is going to ask for a smack-down and Pelosi will be ready to deliver. In time.

6. They have two different jobs
Nancy Pelosi is now the representative of the entire House, ALL the people. Murtha is running to be the representative of the Democratic Party in the House. So they're both doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing. The grassroots needs to be a little more obective about how our government actually works.

7. Tell that to former Republican speakers who slapped us around like
redheaded stepchildren when they held the majority.

Pelosi is being way too sweet and accomodating. She could at least interject a little toughness mixed in with all the lovey dovey stuff.

8. She said he was delusional and dangerous
What the hell do you want?? She's doing fine. Don't forget she orchesrated the social security fight which was the first strike and she won it hands down.

9. Yeah, she's doing real fine, talking about minimum wage instead of Iraq
Like I already told you if you read my posts, I expect just a WEE BIT of toughness from her along with the lovey dovey stuff. It's been all just a little too warm and peachy so far.

Agree to disagree.

10. She did
She hasn't even been sworn in yet. Why are you attacking her??

"Staying the course has not made our country safer, has not honoured our commitment to our troops and has not made the region more stable.

"We cannot continue down this catastrophic path. And so, we say to the president: Mr President, we need a new direction in Iraq. Let us work together to find a solution."

11. Good for you, I'm glad you're satisfied with her so far
I'll take Murtha's tougher post-election approach and his consistency.

You can have the last word, I'm done with you on this. From all past experience, I could post tomorrow that the sun will rise in the east and you'd tell me different. My memory serves me well. Have a good day!
