I'd like to nominate Bill Clinton for Speaker of the House. |
|
And give Big Dawg free reign in determining House agenda. You don't have to be a member of the HOR to be speaker, anyone can do it, it's just that over time, precedence has dictated that when power switches, an pre-existing member of the minority takes the reigns of the speakership. It's one of the loopholes in the Consitution that I think we should take advantage of.
Imagine Big Dawg wielding the gavel for impeachment ? Payback baby. Just a thought to make the vast right wing conspiracy shudder some more.
I'm sure Pelosi will do a great job as the nation's first Madam Speaker...and that is probably more than enough to make a Freeper feel "screwn". "San Fransico" values, here we come.
Perhaps we should send Rice a Roni, the San Fransico treat to all that have chanted the San Fransico values mantra ? Just food for thought.

Pelosi has handled the impeachment thing beautifully, and she'll make an excellent Speaker.

3. Then again impeachment is not something you want to rush into. |
|
There are distinct advantages to having a lame duck around. He can be pushed and prodded to action, unlike say a newly appointed replacement, after impeachment who will be far more defiant on passing legislative initiatives.

7. It's more than that... |

Have we forgotten what happened when Nixon resigned? Here's the way it will work...Cheney would resign, chimpy would APPOINT one of his cronies as VP then he would resign, does anyone think we would be ANY better off?
Leave him there as a lame duck and push him toward our agenda.

8. i know this may be unpopular here... |

...but i think speaker-to-be pelosi is right. if we get bogged down in impeachment hearings it'll waste time and money, and just serve to piss off the country. we're finally got control of both houses of congress after 12 years, and i'd rather not cede control in two years by alienating people through politics. as much as i want to see the chimp-in-chief humiliated, i also recognize that we've got more important things to deal with. he's a two-year lame duck and he knows it. i think nancy's 100-hour plan makes sense, and will help to establish good feelings between congressional democrats and the voting public.
when i step back from my anger at * and think about it, i'd rather see us take positive action on the war, minimum wage, health care, education, etc. let's be the party of positivity and progress.

5. Bill Clinton would have better things to do than impeachment. |
|
I'm all for impeachment, but at the expense of other work.
