I think Rove will leave now! Any bets? |
|
I think his main job lately was just to handle the Republican election. And that is over. The Republicans and the election are both over for him. And his vision of a Republican US for as far as we all could see is gone.
And I think he will be gone now, too. Probably will leave to take a job in the private sector or something like that. Maybe he will just say he wants to spend more time with his family.
And I am interested to see what will happen to Cheney. I think his days in the sun are really over, too. That whole arrogant Republican era is just gone.
Thank goodness.

2. Well, when it came to playing dirty he really took all the medals. |
|
But it wasn't just him. The lord it over everyone, take no prisoners attitude finally brought them all down. You simply can't have a government for about 1/4 of the people and just ignore all the rest. Won't work.

6. I think he is restricted to certain cirumstances before his evil |
|
strategies can work. The external forces, the circumstances, were overpowering this year. He undoubtedly would still be prized as a strategist for statewide events...
I truly think that the internet and its ability to rapidly disseminate and to spotlight what was going on so that activisits (and even occasionally the MSM) could shine a light on it) had a big role in defeating Rove's strategies this time around.. I think that is why they are so determined to try to take control over the internet, which ultimately may hold the key to our retaining democracy,,

7. You don't think people are just sick to death of Rove? |
|
He just has such a horrible reputation for being totally ruthless and amoral. I sure wouldn't want anyone to know if he was working for me.

10. People in general are sick of him... but face it, the kind who |
|
would hire Rove are not turned away at his reputation for being totally ruthless and amoral. In some areas of the country, inherent predjudices, fears, and racism can be manipulated and, no, I don't see that going away.
He'll lay low for awhile, but I doubt he's gone.... Face it. The only thing that took out his "mentor," Lee Atwater, was a fatal brain tumor. These guys don't believe the spiel they put forth. They are in it for the money, the power, the accolades. I don't see that changing, unfortunately.
But, I do see us better able to combat them, so there is that very positive development.

Can't say I'm sorry to see this bunch go. They were kind of like a dark time in our lives. We need to get back to the sunlight.

12. Depends on how the rest of this week goes. After Bush's stunt |
|
a short time ago, if it plays well for him and the Democrats don't call him out for the cheap political stunt that it was, then I'd say Rove stays. If Democrats fall into his trap, then Rove will stick around.

Karl thinks/knows that the Democrats didn't win, the Republicans lost.
He will be dirtier next time, since it worked so well in TN.
