Lieberman - you have two choices: Democrat Majority or Republican Majority
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 11:10 AM by LynneSin
And it's not like we haven't given Independents seniority and chair seats - we did for Jim Jeffords and we will for Bernie Sanders too (well when he gets to that level)

We have a one vote difference between us having the majority and the republicans having the majority. And trust me, the Republicans are probably already trying to deal with Lieberman, figured he can't be any worse than what Chafee was.

We needed 7 seats to nullify Lieberman but we got six. You give the republicans Lieberman you're gonna give them the courts since we won't have the ability to stop radical judges in the Judiciary committee. And in 2002, our Judiciary committee stopped over 10 radical judicial nominations FROM EVER GETTING A FLOOR VOTE. No floor vote, no fighting to get the filibuster and it's alot easier for us.

So all you anti-Lieberman folks (and hell I can't stand the guy myself) - we either deal with them or we give up the majority. And personally I think Jon Tester and Jim Webb fought their damn asses off in those close races deserve something better than us just giving away the majority

1. I don't feel like cutting off my nose to spite my face, it's
ugly enough. I have had to live with DINO Senators and Representatives; believe me, it's better than a Republican Senate.

2. Like someone said on another thread...
...rats don't usually jump on to a sinking ship.

I think we're stuck with him. :)

5. They will if chased onto it by people wielding pitchforks and torches.
Time to walk the "big tent" talk, dems. Make nice with Holy Joe.

3. We work with him, it is as simple as that
it should be pointed out that during the campaign his position on Iraq was being modified. Whether that was sincere or NOT is immaterial, the fact is that the people have said loud and clear they want a change, even in Connecticut, which was the big reason that Ned Lamont won the primary.

Because of our majority WE HAVE STOPPED THEM FROM TRYING TO PRIVITIZE Social Security and Medicare

I was listening to Forbes on Bloomberg, and he was extremely unhappy about that

After 9/11 bush and this administration had the opportunity to unite the country, and the world, instead they SPIT in everyones face

We have been granted another opportunity, let's hope we do not squander the next two years

6. People rolled the political dice
This is what we got. If people didn't want to risk losing the "D" in CT, they shouldn't have ran against Lieberman in the primary. This was the risk they wanted to take, so they need to stop being babies about the results.

7. The election's over. He's already announced his decision
to caucus with Democrats. And aside from Iraq, Liebermann's on board with almost every other major issue. It's time to take a pragmatic view and move on. I'm more than content that he's not jumping ship to spite the Dems, thereby handing Cheney the tie-breaking leadership vote, which Bush would relish for good reason! That could have been a tempting option for him given the party's near-unanimous support for Lamont, but he's not going that route, which is a relief. I recall once hearing something about "not looking a gift horse in the mouth"!

8. That's "DemocratIC" majority. Stop repeating the RW slander on the
party name. And I think you mean Republican MINORITY.
