Who should be our House Majority Leader and Whip?
I think Rahm probably has the Whip position in the bag. How about Majority Leader? The guy in place to take it is Steny Hoyer, but no doubt there will be challengers.

3. Three names... Hoyer, Emmanuel, Murtha...
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 02:15 PM by Stand and Fight
Steny Hoyer for Majority Leader
Rahm Emmanuel for Majority Whip.
John Murtha for Deputy Majority Whip.

Steny Hoyer... However, on edit, I am not opposed to him. He has done his time and done a fairly good job... Save the HAVA... At first I said Murtha, but Murtha only came to the fore-front because of one issue, Iraq. While that issue is important, I do not think it warrents the Majority Leader position. Steny Hoyer has done a lot of hard work and should be given his just dues.

4. I think the Majority Leader should be Steny Hoyer
He's worked hard as the Minority Whip and should move up. James Clyburn should be the Whip, he's chair of the Caucus and I think we should have at least one member from a Southern state in the leadership.

5. Jim Clyburn (SC) would like to be the whip
And it sounds like he would have Pelosi's support. He's a really great Congressman and would love to see him have the position.

7. Rahm was on Charlie Rose last night
said he hadn't decided which job he wanted, made it sound like it was his choice. Charlie said 'wouldn't you be Whip?'. Rahm said possibly but had one or two other spots he was considering.

8. how about Diana DeGette for whip?
Actually, I don't know if she's even going to run - but, she's serving as the chief deputy whip right now. She's a lot more progressive than some of the other people running, and she's shown a real ability to get things done - she was the major force behind getting the stem cell legislation passed in the House (she was also a co-sponsor of the bill)
