A democratic incumbent congressman may lose his seat
Bill Jefferson (D) Louisiana (he of the 100k in the freezer) is in a runoff after the general election. He is in a runoff with Karen Carter, a democratic Louisiana State Senator. The election will be 5 December and the seat will remain a (D). It looks like its going to be a real close race.

Interesting. A democrat who may be in some corruptive type trouble may be taken care of by other democrats.

3. If this guy is so guilty, why hasn't he been indicted? I keep asking,
but no one has an answer.

6. Excellent Question Sis
because he maintains his innocence. Its been over a year since that money in the freezer was discovered and yet no charges have been filed. Its gonna be a slam bam month of mud slinging.

4. Chief, I'm sure you are familar with the phrase
"we take care of our own"

I would hope that is one of the first things the new dem leadership makes very clear.

8. I would suggest that the
party leadership stay far away from the district. Let the folks in the district pick their own representative. Pelosi already has Jefferson on a short leash.

7. Go Karen Carter
We need to show we're exactly the opposite of the corrupt Republicans we just chucked out of office. Jefferson will have his day in court but right now we need squeaky clean if we want to be able to talk with the complete moral high ground.

9. This is somewhat of a conundrum
As you mention, Jefferson may have his day in court. But he hasn't been charged with anything yet. And his story has been rambling on for more then a year. I believe the district will be well served with either candidate but Carter will be a better face for the party.

10. It dosen't matter if he hasn't been convicted
The money in the freezer still means Jefferson has skeltons in his closet and I want him and his ethics problems out of DC.

Go Karen, whip Wild Bill's ass all over NOLA.

11. May I interject this small thought
Good riddence to Mr. Jefferson. I really hope the voters hand him his head.

One of the big issues in this elections was congressional ethics. Mr. Jefferson clearly fails in that department.

Speaker-elect Pelosi is talking up ethics and honesty right now. It will be a lot easier to make Congress more honest and ethical if a crook like Jefferson is taken down now.

13. I don't live in the district
and I have no idea how the election will go. But if Jefferson is a crook, why haven't charges been filed (its been over a year.) I'm not defending him, but I'd like for him to have his day in court. I believe Karen Carter will represent the city in an outstanding manner but if the evidence is so overwhelming against Jefferson, where are the charges?
