Man, I just can't believe it.

Just a few months ago I thought it was impossible for us to take the Senate. But we took over 6 out of the 14 seats that were held by Republican incumbents!

And the Republicans did not gain a single existing Democratic seat in either the Senate, the House or the Governorships!

1. A few months ago

I didn't think we'd be able to pick up the house. I thought with all the gerrymandering the repubs had been able to do they almost had it sealed up.

Good thing for us they were so corrupt and disturbed they could barely turn out their base. I bet Rove wishes he could take back his thought that the independants no longer matter.

2. Gerrymandering can hurt.

If you dilute the strength of your base's core area in the state by spreading it over several districts, you run the risk of losing some of those districts in the case that your base does not turn out. I am told that that is what happened in several usually safe Republican districts; their base didn't turn out but ours did bigtime, with the independents way in our favor.
