It's the HUBRIS, Stupid!
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 06:07 PM by Rick Myers
Way back in the 2000 race, on the stump AND in one of the early debates, George W. Bush chastized President Clinton on Bosnia. He claimed 'the military is not to be used for nation-building,' as a dig at Clinton. He went on to PROMISE he would NEVER do such a thing. He said this on more than one occassion. We had the sElection and Dubya took the reins...

There are those of us that knew about the neocons, PNAC and Straussian theory way back in 1996-97. We didn't worry much until damn near every one of them somehow ended up in seats of power under All Hat-No Cattle. Then came 9/11. A real life horror show that stabbed at the heart of the Nation. Little George climbed up on a pile of rubble and 'rallied the troops.'

We KNEW who hit us. We KNEW where they were. We KNEW, because they were OUR assets at one time...

But the neocons jumped on the tragedy to force their 'plan' on an uneducated rube from Midland, TX. You can't blame poor George, he didn't care none fer book learnin' and that kinda stuff. He wanted a WAR. Any war.

It made perfect sense to hit Afganastan with the biggest damn stick we had... It worked. We broke the back of the Taliban and sent Bin Laden's clown army into the caves. But that wasn't enough.

Lil' George went to war, and he really LIKED it. He was 'The War President.' Sounds good... "The War President."

Rummy stopped by and reminded him this was a War on Terror... And, hey, didn't Saddam try to kill your daddy???

That was all George needed to hear. More war! More weapons! More toy soldiers!!

And America was led, kicking and screaming all the way, into the Invasion of Iraq. And that brings us to now...

We're still there. 140,000 of our boys and girls (come on, most of them ARE kids) sit in the sand in a foreign land with no idea why they are there, what they are supposed to do, and when they will ever get to come home.

Around 3,000 have come home in flag-draped coffins, tens of thousands 'lucky' they just lost limbs. And the post-traumatic stress casualties that we won't be able to quantify for a decade...

The neocons are nearly gone now... Off making big money at the World Bank or some skanky 'think tank' in DC.

Only Cheney remains. Snivelling and snearing in some secret bunker. Just like Hitler.

The Democrats now control the purse-strings and the investigative power, and Dick Cheney may not show it, but he's very, very stressed. Actually, he's probably shitting himself hourly. Every shredder in every Office Max in Virginia couldn't handle the about of filth this guy is covered in...

Dick is not a well man... He's had many heart attacks, has a built-in defiberlator...

He will resign soon, for 'medical reasons.'

In an attempt to save what tiny bit of a pResidency he has, Dubya will name John McCain VP.

McCain then runs in 2008 from the position of vice-president, the only real hope the Republicans have... What else could explain McCain's strange transformation from centerist pillbull to party lapdog?

HUBRIS: exaggerated pride or self-confidence
