Clark Supporters: Please rank Kerry, Edwards and Dean |
|
If Clark drops out after the Tennessee and Virginia Primaries, who would you back next and why?
Please rank the other candidates in the order you support them:
Example:
Edwards Kerry Dean

Edwards Kerry draft Hillary Dean
The last one is academic, of course. Dean'll be gone before Clark.

1. Edwards--I like his positive message as well as his appeal to moderate/independant and Southern voters. I also think that he has some good, solid plans laid out..
2. Dean--I like the excitement of Dean and his grassroots campaign. If he could make a comeback, I think he'd be stronger than ever.
3. Kerry--I can't get really excited about Kerry, though I do not doubt that he is very qualified to be President.

then I asked him to make ones for the others, just to see the results..even though I don't like the premise for this one, of course! :)

I should also say that I'm about to cast my absentee ballot for Clark for NY . . .
And my support for the others would be more of getting used to them as the nominee, instead of the support I show for Clark (letters, contributions, talking up, etc). Let's just say these would be my current preferences if Clark (God forbid!) were to leave . . .
edit: typo and clarification

I see Dean as more of a DNC Chairman - think Smirk would give him a tough time in the GE.
Edwards = Kennedy (one or the other). Would bring many lapsed Dems back into the Big Tent (Tweety, my parents). Not as many as Clark, but alot. Puts many Southern states in play.
Kerry - Nice resume, great speaker, nice contrast to * for the GE. Will have an opportunity to regenerate the party's soul. Not as much charisma as Clark or JRE, but may not need it. Will have trouble in the South - will have to have NH, OH, MO

DK is in this all the way, and Sharpton says he will go to Boston if he has to walk there.

this was a reality poll - the supposition was that Clark's been eliminated. Sharpton and DK are even less likely to be nominated than Wes. The riginal poster wants toknow which of the live candidates we will be supporting.

My reasons are simple: IWR, Patriot Act, NCLB... the two Senators didn't stand up for me and I'm not standing up for them.

20. Kerry, Dean, Edwards. Edwards defends the war |
|
Kerry is a great guy: I can't help but admire him. Moreover, he has shown great remorse about IWR, and I actually believe him about the need for leverage
Dean has revolutinoized the Party, and he's a fighter
Edwards is a great guy, but too inexperienced in my view. Moreover, I wish he showed remorse about the IWR vote. He defends the war, which is a big negative. I'm piling a bit--I do not doubt his sincerity about working families one bit. A good guy overall.

33. Edwards doesn't defend the war |
|
he defends the vote, because he supported the option to remove Saddam threw the UN when he didn't comply with 1441 after sufficient inspections. This is something that Clark, Dean, and Kerry also support, but has gotten lost in trying to get on Deans distortion bandwagon about the war powers resolution that congress passed

I wouldn't support a Dem that voted for the IWR. I wouldn't support Kerry because he used his wealth to overcome a failed candidacy.

23. Clark is the only candidate |
|
that I can get really exited about. If he's out, it boils down to strictly pragmatic considerations of who I think is more electable.
My #1 spot, really torn between Edwards and Kerry. I'm much more aligned with Kerry politically, and I think he's much more qualified to be president, but I just have real concerns about his electability.
I am tending to think that Edwards may be somewhat more electable, just because he seems to connect with voters more effectively and is more charismatic, and face it, he's Southern and right or wrong, Southerners have been the only Dems to get elected over the past 40 years.
Dean is a distant 3rd. I appreciate what Dean has accomplished in energizing the grass roots, and he's mostly right in what he says about the Bush regime, and the need for real change in the Democratic party. Most of his message resonates very strongly with me. However, I have gradually become more aware of his liabilities as a candidate, and frankly just don't think he's electable at this point.
I also don't appreciate his calling Clark a Republican and lying about his position on the Iraq war, that's been a real turn off for me. He seems to be as good at alienating people as he is at energizing them. This contributes to his electability problems in my opinion.
If Clark drops out, I will probably not actively support another candidate, and let the chips fall where they will. My state doesn't have caucuses until April anyway, so it's not like I actually have a say in anything. I will probably make a donation to Kucinich. He's the other candidate who's been subjected to a media blackout, and he could use the support.

Both of you seem to like imagining candidates dropping out. Clark's fundraising is still gaining steam, I don't see any reason why he should drop out before the last vote is cast.
Clark is the only candidate running that I think would make a good President. He is certainly the only one who inspires me enough to spend my time campaigning for. He is also the only one that I think would undoubtedly beat Bush.
I won't support Kerry, Edwards, or Dean until November (my caucus is over). I don't think any of them will beat Bush, whether I try to help them or not.
When it comes time to vote, I will vote for the Democrat, as I always do. I still hope, for the sake of our country, that our nominee is Wesley Clark.

If Edwards is on the ticket, I would have serious reservations about it. He doesn't appear on my radar at all.
BTW, I really like Dean supporters and hate the way Dean has been treated. I wish I liked the candidate as much as I like them, but I have problems with a number of his stands.
