is just fine.

Why, oh why, are you letting the repubs frame the message?

Schumer on O'Liely...http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/11/09/chuck-schumer-shows-his-love-for-bill-o/

Stop it right now, we need to be the loyal opposition party, not the lock stepping with the RW crazies party.

5. I sometimes wonder if Churchill, FDR, et. al. were just a little TOO
polite.

They met in Yalta with Stalin.

We desperately need people to stand up and take the hit. At this point, with control of both Houses, the risk is minimal.

6. You need to learn more about Churchill.

The issue is not being polite or not, the issue is taking care of business. Effective assholes would be just as welcome, but that is an inferior solution to someone that kicks their ass with a smile and a handshake.

Edit: I have high hopes for Ms Pelosi in this regard, but we will have to wait and see.

8. Stalin saved Churchill's ass.

Stalin (or the USSR if you prefer) won WWII. Stalin was an asshole, and a lousy leader, but he was needed to defeat Hitler, and the USSR paid a far higher price than the US or the UK to achieve that. You don't think they buddied up because Churchill or FDR were "weak" do you?

12. We could debate this forever. Perhaps we should head off to the History forum,

so you can further explain to me how I need to learn more about Churchill.

In the meantime, I will say, that the USSR was a valuable ally during the war however, the post WW II era would have provided an ideal situation to rein in Stalin's despotic rule. Instead, he was given carte blanche to massacre millions of his own people.

So, although being "polite" to him was beneficial at one level, in the end, the payment for that civility was soaked in blood. MKJ

13. Offensive Finesse.
Putting up a civil front and then hitting them when they are least expecting it is the way to deal with this administration.
