Republican candidate loses election...then punches his wife in the face!
http://www.thedailyjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061109/NEWS01/611090323

MILLVILLE -- Defeated Republican county freeholder candidate Michael D. Schenck was charged with domestic assault after the polls closed Tuesday night. The charge was brought by his wife, who alleged her husband struck her in the eye.

Schenck, 29, was released on a summons pending a hearing in the Family Division of Cumberland County Superior Court scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. His wife, Angela, 25, was granted a temporary restraining order by Municipal Court Judge Steven Neder. The order forbids any contact between the couple until the hearing.

"Under the law, we have no discretion but to charge someone in a domestic incident where there is visible injury, no matter where the alleged assault took place," the chief said. "All of our reports will be forwarded to Vineland Municipal Court."

Police said the assault allegedly took place as the couple was leaving the North Italy Club, where Cumberland County Republicans had gathered to review election returns.

5. I don't think so.
I think the story said they didn't have any kids.

The guy's an Iraq war veteran, too. Maybe some latent PTSD? Another sign of how we're shafting our fighting men.

12. Am I allowed to second it?
Seeing as how I was the one who posted the thing, I can't vote for it for Greatest page. Can I back his nomination for the Idiots list? :)

4. Poor woman. Married a loser. And nothing is worse than when
a loser loses and has to vent his displaced anger. Should have taken it out on his party.

Ken Mehlman should go door to door, so each and every angry Republican can punch him in the face. Though as a Democratic, and like many of my fellows, I wouldn't mind doing that too. It's just that I understand it's what he has to do to put food on the table, so maybe I'd let him off the hook easy.

9. Yeah I probably would hit the guy in this incident if he came door
to door. Unless his wife forgives him, which she shouldn't. Guy should at least go to therapy.

10. omg i feel so bad for laughing at that
In the district next door to mine, NY20, R incumbant John Sweeney lost when it was revealed that he hit is wife a few years ago. Technically he shook her... but it was bad enough that she called the police.

He denied it and dodged it during the campaign, but police reports are hard to dispute.
Then he put his wife on TV... had her say how much she supports him. I think many people know how to recognize a battered wife, thank God.
The final nail in the coffin was when it was revealed that his son assulted another kid with a baseball bat, inflicting permaenent injuries. It was obvious that he was tried as a juvie just because of his political connections.
So I think people saw that and said, "gee... i wonder where that boy learned THAT."

Anyone else sensing a pattern, here?

23. Remember "That's Our Bush?"
The awful sitcom that Parker and Stone of "South Park" tried to run, about Bush and his wacky adventures?

If you don't, the "catch phrase" punch line at the end of every episode was "Laura, one of these days I'm gonna PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE!" (Cue the canned applause.)
