Gas prices and politics - this chart shows it all.
Avg San Diego gas prices were falling until about 11/1; flat until about 11/6, and started going up on 11/6.

The US average is pretty flat from about 10/24 on but had been falling beforehand. Again, upward trend starting 11/6.

Any remaining questions about whether politics and gas prices were intertwined?

2. I don't want to pay the higher prices,
but I laughed my head off when I read the "gas prices going up" article in a San Diego paper - the day after the election.

Can we tell THEM "we told you so" over and over and over? ;)

3. I'd be happy to pay higher prices if they were due to taxes which were going
to fund public transportation, bike lanes, sidewalks, and programs to get people out of their single-person cars. But when they're going to fund record breaking profits, I'm not happy. I filled up my 13-gallon tank on Wed and it should last me about a month or 6 weeks (I mainly bike) so I'll probably suffer price shock the next time I have to fill up.

4. Up between 4 and 9 cents in Las Vegas
They didn't even try to fake it, did they? I've looked at the local gas price site every day for months and there was never a daily uptick until election day.

5. They will have to drop it again once the Dems investigate how they fix prices.
