I will maintain that GW wanted this to happen..He was at a
complete mindblank on Iraq and his own groupies had drunk the purple grape juice and believed he knew what he was doing..that and he just isn't a socially conscious person..so he really needed the dems and the only way to insure it was to be in his "absolute" control mode this past week with the formerly known as "Rummy" at his side.

1. I believe you misunderestimate the depths of their hubris.

2. An interesting contrarian take but I don't agree
Remember that the DOD was ramping up a new PR blitz for the war. The bitter-enders like Chimpy always thought it was all just a matter of finding the right PR campaign.

4. In some ways I do think
it is a burden lifted off him. I think it wasn't fun anymore.

5. No, now he can't pretend he's the Decider with his court of
fawning, slobbering fools telling him what a great man he is (as laugh at him behind his back and run the country into the ground lining their pockets the whole time).

6. If the real estate market causes the economy to implode,
which Bush and Republicans must sense is a possibility, I would suspect that the Republicans would not be upset to not be in charge.

7.  Show me what you got....
is a very shrewd political move from him.

I don't agree that he wanted it, but now that its been visited upon him,W seems determined to make the best of it. A good sign for us and good politics for him.
